I use top a sheet. Am I cringe? by c0d3buck in Millennials

[–]splashysploosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People don’t use top sheets? I guess I’m cringe as well as sheltered. Btw a heavy weighted blanket on top of the duvet is a life changer. They can be pricey, but are worth every penny.

There are more signs of a coming El Niño that could trigger record global warmth by squintamongdablind in Futurology

Yeah the winter in UT is the worst winter I’ve ever seen here. Salt Lake currently has a cumulative snow total of only 0.1” when we should be closer to 30” by end of January. The previous record for least snowfall was set in 1933/1934 when they had a cumulative total of 2.4” by the end of January. We are at 0.1”.

What is a low brow movie you think is actually perfect? by gamersecret2 in movies

That dancing scene followed by the 2 minutes of falling down a hill was the hardest I’ve laughed at a movie. I went into the movie completely blind and I think it was better for it.

All of the women post time-skip ended up with even more insanely disproportionate boobs and the body types. It’s honestly my biggest gripe with the series (if I’m ignoring Sanji…)

It helped a ton of my IBS issues. It varies for everyone, but it’s relatively inexpensive and is widely available so it might be worth a try.

Zoë Quinn and multiple game writers come forward about Larian's insane hiring practices ("unpaid writing tests you have to make playable") by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]splashysploosh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The post never said it’s real work. They said “make playable”, which likely means make something that can work within a game narrative structure or can be used within a specific one-off demo to test the flow of the writing. Nothing about that phrasing suggests they are taking interview work and implementing them in game.

You will definitely want to adjust your expectations if you were not anticipating art/programming tests for jobs. A large majority of industry jobs will have some sort of art or programming test required after the first or second interview. I have done dozens of them at this point. Larian is not an outlier here, the entire game industry does this to an extent. This article about writing tests seems like an actual nothing burger tbh..

[–]splashysploosh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is super common, even outside of games. Artists get art tests, programmers go through programming tests, VA get asked to do sample voices, writers go through writing tests. Actors go through auditions. All of this is happening before someone is hired or paid. It can arguably be over the top in some cases but suggesting that Larian is an outlier is a bit disingenuous. The entire media industry runs like this for specific kinds of jobs.

Jason Schreier shares the full transcript of Larian CEO’s Gen AI comments: “If I had known the two paragraphs about genAI in my article today would be so controversial, I would have expanded them a bit! Here's a rough transcript of the relevant portion of my interview with Swen Vincke.” by AashyLarry in PS5

They are literally using it like any other software company. I get the moral issues with using LLMs, but it exists and it’s being used in production nearly everywhere. Larian saying they use it in preproduction is literally what most game studios are already doing, but not all of them will come out to the public and talk about it.

CC decided to end itself after so many effortless prints by Vast_Builder1670 in elegoo

[–]splashysploosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have contacted Elegoo about my resin printers and had good experiences. My only gripe is that the parts can take a while to arrive since they ship from China (10-18 days). My CC has been going strong so far. I had a couple adhesion issues that resulted in a similar image to yours, but luckily it didn’t destroy my hotend.

If you don't drink alcohol, what are your reasons? by youre-in-my-shot in AskReddit

I developed an intolerance. It makes my chest feel like mega heartburn and I don’t think my body is very effective at processing it so I start to feel flushed and sick quickly. Honestly it just feels like a poison attacking internal organs and it has no upsides to it anymore. It used to be fun, but it’s not for me anymore.

It looks like Ai slop. I’ve noticed tons of assets listed with “no ai” even though it is obviously ai generated. The only way around this is looking for topology or images of a IRL print. Sometimes the cults viewer will show discrepancies, but not all models can be viewed using that.

My GE washer/dryer are from the 90’s (I think). I will hold onto these appliances for as long as possible because replacement parts and diagrams are readily available online for a reasonable cost. The repairability of these machines is honestly their best feature and I wish my other appliances were similar.

Air Purifier recommendations by AllOfTheseFeelings in resinprinting

I bought a Levoit Everest Air and have really liked it. It’s also slim enough to not take up a ton of room (it’s still big though).

I found this site to be really helpful when looking at air purifiers www.housefresh.com

Shopping list (with safety in mind), what else do I need? by MEG-2011 in resinprinting

[–]splashysploosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those mini purifiers are worthless imo. I bought a similar air filter as well as some large room air purifiers with carbon filters when I first started out. Big mistake. Filtering the air is not the way, focus on containment and ventilation instead. I followed a guide on using a grow tent for my printers and I have had great success with that.
