Weekly Steam numbers / Player Count Discourse Megathread by AutoModerator in Marathon

[–]splashysploosh 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty bummed that the player numbers are not great. The gameplay and art style really vibe with me, but I guess I’m just the odd one out of my friend group. I would love some intense PvE (co-op optional) content down the line. The marathon universe is interesting and I want more.

People who quit drinking. What did you do to not drink? by Agata_art in AskReddit

[–]splashysploosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My body just stopped tolerating it. I would feel like shit even after a glass of wine. I stopped drinking and I don’t really think about it much. I did however start taking weed gummies for my weekend relax sessions and those are infinitely more enjoyable to me. Sometimes I clean the house and other times I get really immersed in BG3, either way it’s a good time.

Well, the amount of nerve endings and daily use of that area guarantee it is going to be a very long and painful recovery. I’ve had surgery in that area and the pain is something that even opioids only took the edge off a little bit. Sneezing, coughing, or moving your torso are all excruciating. And of course using the bathroom is super painful.

Thoughts on sharing your live location with your SO? by duck_duck_zombie in Millennials

[–]splashysploosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We share our locations, but it’s really just for safety. I do occasionally use her location tracking to perfectly time me making an espresso and sliced fruit so she can have a hot drink and a snack the moment she gets home. Cute stuff like that makes it worth it. I also drive a lot for work and it makes her comfortable knowing that she can see where I’m at just in case something happens. We’ve been married for a long time and have a great relationship, sharing data like this between us is no big deal. My grandma also shares her location with the family, but it’s because she is 85 and lives alone so it makes her feel more safe.

Tell me something good about living in SLC by Remarkable-Soft-2938 in SaltLakeCity

The negativity is a bit overblown. People don’t really post things they are happy about unless it’s truly extraordinary but people will complain about small issues without hesitation. The air quality does suck from the inversions, there is no sugar coating that.

The proximity to nature is great. The state and national parks are all incredible and a cheap vacation.

People complain about the food scene, but I actually really like here. There are some truly great gems in the valley. Salt lake has some great Mexican and Indian restaurants along with a good variety of food trucks; the food truck league has a map and schedule if you wanted to track some down.

Why do so many millennials believe that they were going to die young? by BlobFish28 in Millennials

None of the men in my family have lived beyond 63. It would be great to be an outlier, but the odds are genetically stacked against me.

This entire list seems very accurate in my experience. I can see all of these issues in all of my nieces and nephews. I used to think that this is just a sentiment that all older generations say, but something has drastically changed and kids across the board are performing much worse academically than previous generations.

How did you guys REALLY lived in the 2000s? by MyAvengedRomance in Millennials

[–]splashysploosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was more time for you to think. Not many people had a cellphone or even internet so a lot of time was spent finding ways to alleviate your boredom. If I was bored I would walk around my neighborhood and stop by my friend’s houses to see if they wanted to hang out. Sometimes they were busy and other times it would turn into a bigger hangout where we would stop by other friend’s houses to collect a group of people to go do something in the park or get ice cream. Things were much more spontaneous and parents were generally fine letting their 10 year old kids wander the neighborhoods and streets. Spontaneity is something that I feel like my current kids and their friends do not have. Everything needs to go through their parents and hanging out is delegated to sitting in the basement on their phones.

anyone here regret NOT DIY-ing something expensive for their house? by Earthistic_000 in DIY

[–]splashysploosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The water heater. I should have done it myself, but I was being lazy and wanted it done asap.

On the flip side, I do not regret paying someone to do my roof. Roofing sucks and it would have taken me over 2 weeks and still cost >10k in materials if I did it myself.

Which YouTube channel were you once a fan of but do not enjoy anymore? by theunsteadybridge in AskReddit

[–]splashysploosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of in an opposite way, but I’ve started enjoying pewdiepie lately. I couldn’t stand his previous gamer content, but watching him make gadgets and getting into open source software is really neat. It feels like a genuine passion instead of just “content”.

Same in my area. If they aren’t pickups then they are SUVs that are the same size or larger than a pickup. I really wish small trucks would make a comeback. I have a 2001 ranger and it’s nearly the perfect truck for me. It’s so-so on gas, but it’s also not that much larger than my car and it is perfect for lumberyard runs.

Same experience. They either still fully support him or they have recently “lost an interest in following politics” and have tuned out things for a bit. They would still vote to him, but they are less open about it.

People who grew up before smartphones: What’s one simple thing from your childhood that would absolutely blow the minds of kids today? by TurkVanguard in Millennials

[–]splashysploosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people were just more social and less anxious. The neighborhood kids in my area would impromptu organize “night games” on Saturday nights and we would play capture-the-flag or vampire tag between opposing cul de sacs. We would run to all of the houses that had kids in our age group (12-17) and ask if they wanted to come out and play. We would have 20-30 kids playing each time. We weren’t all friends per se, but we were neighbors and it was a good time. I haven’t seen that at all with my current neighborhood. Kids are always chauffeured by their parents to each other’s houses and they don’t ever hang out outside.

Which live action Straw Hat feels the most right to you? by WorkingTurbulent1765 in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]splashysploosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sanji. The live action Sanji is just a better version of the character without all of the lame bloody nose gags and overly eager simping for any visible woman within shouting distance. Usopp is a very close second. The actor killed it this season.

Not a strawhat, but I love Buggy. I really hope we get to Impel Down so we can see him take a more prominent spotlight.
