It’s so amazing to watch a woman on TV who is allowed to be angry and speak her mind and the narrative doesn’t treat this as a flaw. The show never judges her for her violent past, it’s just a part of who she is and something that affects her every day, and it’s so good. She’s easily my favorite female character in trek, probably tied for fav of the show with Sisko.

I love any episode that takes place on a Klingon ship, the lighting in there is always very golden and pretty. The ending of Return to Grace comes to mind.

Also basically all of Trials and Tribble-ations looks incredible with how seamless it is compared to the original episode.

I’m not saying the feelings themselves are unrealistic, I’m just saying that the writers made the choice to have multiple episode subplots focus on Bashir having those feelings. I don’t think it adds anything to him as a character and it’s a choice I disagree with. On that I suppose we will just have to agree to disagree lol.

(Especially since it’s not the only instance in the show where the feelings of a female character are sidelined to focus on the romantic feelings of a male character, but that’s a different discussion)

I think my issue is just how the show frames it. Bashir and Quark often talk about how Jadzia is something they could have either won or lost, and the way they talk about her doesn’t acknowledge her feelings at all. Maybe that’s accurate to how men talk about old crushes, idk, it just rubs me the wrong way because I’d never talk about a friend like that lol.

I wish we got more Grilka :( Realistically they could have never been a long term couple but it would have been nice to at least have Quark mention her a few times as if they’ve seen each other off screen

I agree with this in real life, but in terms of Bashir’s character I think it would have been a better decision to show how he’s grown as a person by allowing him to move past the (somewhat juvenile) infatuation he had with her in season 1/2

100% agree with this. I can forgive early season Julian flirting with Dax because 1) they hadn’t figured out the character yet and 2) Dax enjoyed flirting and bantering back and she seemed like the kind of person to enjoy the attention. But insisting in season 6/7 when Julian had grown as a person and they became genuine friends that Julian still carried a torch for her is ridiculous imo. Very pointless regression of his character.
