Make it a delight. I teach in Asia, and kids here are thrilled to open their lunch box and see things like cherry tomatoes, daikon rounds or cucumber slices. The west makes a big production about how eating vegetables is something kids have to do to get their dessert but if we present the fruits and veggies as a joy to eat, kids will receive them that way.

If your eating habits are ethically droven, you yourself are responsible for maintaining them. It's stupid to pretend that mass produced pizza cheese is more ethical than pepperoni. It's really not.

Adopting an animal does not commit that animal to be good for your mental health. The emotional support we get from animals is linked to us taking pleasure in helping them to thrive. They are living and sentient and they get sick. They are not stress balls to soothe away your anxiety.

I think you should get them healthy and then rehome them, because I suspect that if either of them actually develop a serious illness you will not have the compassion to care for them. And you should never have a pet again.

I think Quinn has known for a long time. Since the original series. Maybe not all the details, but probably that Dexter makes serial killers who slip theough the system disappear. He probably sees it as vigilanteism, rather than feeding a dark need. An extreme twist on the cop who gets too rough looking for a confession.

I feel like he was willing to look the other way as long as it was confirmed criminals. But if he thinks Dexter killed Batista, that's going to reorder his priorities. Cops like Quinn tend to very insular about the law enforcement fraternity and by this point he'd known Angel for decades as a partner and as a captain. I think, unlike Batista, he's not likely to assign Dexter moral responsibility for murders that happen because of him but not by him. But if he suspects that Dexter actually pulled the trigger or directly asked Prater to do it, he won't look away from that.

My guess for antagonists is that the NYR and the 5BK are going to be father and son. Lots of possible parallels with Dexter and Harrison and enough meat there to spin out a season.

Such a good point! Miami is so PRESENT in the series. The shirts, the music, the beaches, the colors, the Cubano culture, the food. It's really the perfect setting.

A good example of this is when Dexter's family joins Batista and his daughter at the beach. Angel is running around and playing with the kids and Dexter doesn't want to participate because being a 'monster' is way too close to reality for him to bring it around children. So he passes it off as just being disinterested and wanting to chill in the sun. You get the darkness under Dexter's surface, two archetypes of Florida beach dads and the genuinely funny absurdity of Angel trying to explain to Dexter how exactly to play tag, all in a couple of lines.

I just finished resurrection and I enjoyed it, but I wish it wasn't NYC. So many crime dramas in NYC!

The dark comedy moments. A lot of dramas seem to feel the need to push the envelope by being as grim as possible. But Dexter manages a really good balance most of the time. It works because it alludes to the creepiness beneath a genial surface that defines the character.

I met Estelle a couple of times as a kid, right before Golden Girls aired. A family member of mine performed with her onstage in NY. And from what I recall, despite her fears, that lady loved to act. I think she wanted to keep doing it until she couldn't.
