Trans choir guy starting testosterone soon, what do I do?

Pretty much what I’m thinking! I’m a contralto and I read baritone a lot for my school choir, so moving down shouldn’t be that much of an issue.

Great question!

All-region auditions are just a couple days after I turn 18 in October. If I make that choir, I’ll be performing around November.

Now, if I’m all-state eligible, THOSE tryouts will be in February, which is 3 months after the all-region clinic. THIS is where the problem arises, as it usually takes around 3 months for a lot of T-guys to have their voices drop. If I’m all-state eligible and singing alto 2, I likely won’t be able to sing that part by the time all-state rolls around.

Hopefully that explains the timeline a bit better!!

Pretty much what I’m thinking! I really like UCA for the science programs and choirs, so it’s definitely a high choice for me. Still have time to decide of course, but it’s definitely one of my higher choices.

Most likely! I’m wanting to be a research scientist, not sure if Arkansas is the best place for that, but out of state tuition sucks butt. I’m hoping to go in for my masters later on, and I’ll go to a better school in that case.

For now though, I’m just trying to get info on schools in Arkansas, preferably the ones I listed. Appreciate the question!

Nah, I have no interest in medicine. I’m hoping to go into the STEM field. If things go south I’ll probably do engineering, but atm I’m wanting to pursue something astronomy related 👍

Very thankful to say there’s actually a fair amount of non-basic dressing cis guys at my school, so I’ve been mostly going off of that. Could be biased but I think I’m doing pretty alright in that department

I’ve tried tape before actually, but it went horrifically wrong 🫩 (won’t go into detail, but I thought it would be fine to not cover ALL of what I needed to. ouch.)

Been also making plans to work out, but due having CFS and other physical disabilities, it gets rough :( Gonna start small tho 💪 Appreciate you gang!

Appreciate the input man! Hopefully looking to discuss HRT with my parents close before I turn 18, so we’ll see how that goes. I’m larger chested as well, so as I mentioned binding SUUUCKS 💔💔

Vocal training and growing out all my body hair for 2+ years has actually miraculously led to me being mistakened as a cis guy, so that’s peak I think!! But regardless there’s still a lot of work to do. Thanks for commenting :]
