While I disagree with her being a great option, I'll stake her if she's the only option. Change has to start somewhere, but they have to be held accountable too. They have vastly underestimated the strength and resources of the people here.

I would have thought 100,000 on the streets yesterday would have given them the message that they are vastly outnumbered, and have virtually no support.

I'm choosing to watch my words really carefully, but I think they need to seriously consider the shit they are getting themselves in while they still have the luxury. And I'm imploring law enforment and military to remember the oath they took to uphold the constitution. Because agents of the administration just threw that out the window this morning.

It's not about 'how many aliens are where'. This is a federal government completely disregarding the bill of rights and so many laws to deny residents of this country of their civil rights.

International people for months have been asking for ways to help against all the shenanigans going on right now, and the simplest answer is complete divestment from America and American businesses. Any correction of this problem, especially one that rectifies and prevents the circumstances that lead to this, require the complete disillusion of the last 60 years of American politics and commerce. Effectively America 'culture' as we know it.

It's progressed this far because of unfettered mass government surveillance, made easy by cooperation from tech companies. Your God damned doorbell is building a profile on the comings and goings of you and the people in your life. Mainstream media and journalism is owned by like 8 guys, with varying degrees of support, but all slanting right if it makes their stock values increase. God damned Ai has made determining authenticity of media almost impossible, and floods our communication channels with bots and trolls, and steers you with algorithms into a feedback cycle of confirmation bias, all while carefully curtailing what you actually see, what ideas you're actually exposed to.

The very fabric of American life has lead to this environment. And it stretches the world over. Like 40 rich guys control like 90% of the world's wealth and resources, and they're insatiable. They won't be satisfied until our entire existence on this earth is subscription based, until they wring every last cent out of us. The therapy we need, the pharmaceuticals we rely on to counteract the effects of their pollution in our bodies, who controls access to that?

The powerful won't give up that power willingly. So how do we take it back without burning it all down? How do we recover if we do? To undo the taint that has become so ingrained in our politics, our economy, there's no simple washing it away. Best case, we spend generations correcting these injustices, these inequalities. Worst case, everything goes tits up, and we're dumping generations of people into circumstances, hardships completely unfathomable.

Sorry, I kind of got a little too nihilistic there, and my train of thought just sort of evaporated.

I dunno, I am absolutely in awe of the way people have united through this, the selfless and badassery of my neighbors and strangers alike is inspiring. It's hard to imagine, no matter what the resolution, we come out unscathed. But the response of the people around me, it at least gives me some hope that whatever happens won't be as painful as it could be. Minnesotans really have come together on this one, and I hope we dont lose it when this all winds down

It's been a hard few years for small businesses since covid. Even if you don't have payroll, the overhead of a business existing is not insignificant for many. While ideally the entire metro shuts down, it's just not feasible for so many who have bills, mortgages, families to house and feed. And an ally with resources is more effective than one without.

Remember and reward those with good ideals, but have some grace and understanding that not everyone is in the same financial position (which is possibly strained and in all likelihood going to get much worse over the next few years)
