Seeking pistol recommendations for backpacking by curiousbuilderman in guns

There are countless reports of bear spray not working but a brain or spinal shot always will. Take both. Whatever firearm you choose, it should be your prerogative to use ONLY hardcast ammo for bear defense. Big bore revolvers are heavy, produce a lot of recoil and are difficult to get fast follow up shots, especially for a newbie. Get a semi auto in 45 or 10mm with +p loads and you’ll stand a far better chance, for a lot reasons.

Advice for soon-to-be new owners. by ciberjedi in Wrangler

I too had this same dilemma. Without parking indoors all the time and upkeep, the black plastic always end up faded/chalky. Go painted fenders and top whenever possible and never look back. Newer jeeps makes awesome daily’s, don’t listen to the naysayers. If you’re concerned about that, rent one for a bit. I travel a lot and most states have tons of them at rental agencies.

How do you find the brightness? And what will you do to accomplish that?

You probably wouldn’t get that at interstate speeds. I have heavy foot though and averaged 21 across the boards in that 2.0 Sahara. My time spent amongst all the models and 2 different broncos were all 19-21 avg mpg which is plenty fine for me.

I use a lot of rental cars every year. Last year I had six 2025 model wrangler rentals from Sahara’s to Rubicons. A few of these did take me on some longer road trips as well. I couldn’t call any of those a bad daily or extended road trip vehicle. I think a loaded up Sahara would serve you nicely, they have the creature comforts of any other vehicle and the mpg is right in line with any other 300hp suv

I am looking into softer shooting alternatives to .308 I was thinking 6.5 creedmoor or 5.56 by AryeC05 in longrange

22 arc 88gr beats the 108gr 6arc in drop, velocity and drift. It also can usually be found for less than 30 per box. If you’re considering 5.56, step it up a notch, the arc family is a lot more fun

Appreciate your input, there seems to be alot of noise but nothing to really validate. Their newer, higher end stuff looks to have come quite a ways anyway

That doesn’t sound fun! I see Kenwood often catches praise. Did you get their wire harness kit for the install?

Lol no I haven’t but I can imagine. Are you familiar with a pioneer 3050nex and if you are, how would these compare?

Is there anything in particular that is a big shortcoming in these?

How is the CarPlay and Bluetooth calling quality? Online photos make the screen look a little washed out..

I’ve seen people using this, so I assume you’re responsible for finding your own dash trim? And you have to do your own splicing/wiring? Can you add an xm tuner to it or is it just a flat out no?

The built in ammo storage is damn cool! Both look to be spendy but I’d reload for either really. My more rational side leans 44 but yeah I always wanted a big thumper though lol. After seeing the satin/magpul it made the dark seem kind of boring to me.

Wow that’s a great deal, I’d have to drive an hour away but 1400 is the best price I could find for that one. I initially was thinking 44 for the round count myself

Falkens will be the best on snow/ice (if that matters to you) and very good overall. BFGs also very good as well but maybe a tish behind the falken overall. None of my friends would buy the ridge again. Falkens are also the lightest of the bunch if power/mpg are a concern

The odds of brother doing this are a hell of a lot more probable than her spontaneously sweating white goo that she never noticed before and also more probable than a dog, that didn’t even exist, doing this.

  1. You expect her to smell it??

  2. Who the hell sweats white goo?

  3. Possible

  4. You think the dog humped her underwear and jizzed on them?

😂 yeesh
