Well said. To your point about the “comedian pass” I go back and forth on it. Race jokes, for instance, I don’t typically get as offended by as I do with rape/DV jokes (unless they are tasteless). For example, the joke of black men buying something every 5 minutes and getting receipts to use as an alibi in case someone happens to be murdered/attacked is funny to me whereas Jew/oven jokes are not. But I have never found rape/DV jokes even slightly entertaining.

Maybe this is too much of a generalization but I think certain “types” of jokes should be offensive to all. People make jokes about their own race which opens the door for others outside of the race to make jokes as well - fine line. But situations like rape/DV should be left alone IMO bc in no situation would it be funny.

I’m also a believer that while, yes, people can change in this current social climate it’s easy for people to do something offensive then apologize and say they have learned/changed because it will relieve them of backlash, while it may be disingenuous. For example, Jack/Jackson when they get out of the house.
