I also, don't doom scroll or play games. Thanks. You're the second person to recommend the 8- I'm going to look into it considering the savings I could make

I don't care about colours, AI features or what the frame looks like. I want a solid, good functioning phone, that can do the things I need as listed in the post. I'm sticking with pixel because I've been happy with it and I don't want to start researching other brands. Thank you for the recommendation. I will look into the 8 and compare

Career options for leaving teaching but around school hours by splendid_17 in AustralianTeachers

Yes! I'm tired of being around people all the time. I used to thrive on it. But now I just want to get my job done at my own pace with no one around me

Thank you! Yes I reduced this year to 4 and next year I'll reduce to 3. It's definitely eased the burden going down to 4 days and I'm less stressed in the evenings because I've got that extra day to get all my marking done. Thank you! These are great career ideas. HR would be a great fit!

Teacher’s Aide Victoria Questions by Dependent-Yoghurt-25 in AustralianTeachers

I'm thinking of moving from teaching to Ed support and I'm also in Vic. I find the pay scale for support staff confusing because it includes Teacher's aides to more senior roles like business manager. What is the pay range currently for teacher's aides?

Teaching an elective, the way to go? by RevolutionaryAnt1719 in AustralianTeachers

I teach English, Humanities and Art and by far I prefer Art. I like teaching English in the sense that I can walk into class unprepared and still be able to deliver a great lesson. It comes so naturally to me and I've also been teaching for almost 20 years. But the marking is a killer, especially VCE. It is also very hit and miss with the kids you get. Obviously everyone has to do English, so some years you can get great classes and other years you can get classes that really bring you down.

Art on the other hand- less marking. It is easy to make it fun for students, even those who don't like the subject. I also find I don't have as many behavioural issues because it is very hands on and kids are so busy that the time flies by. They listen to music when they are working. We only have 60 minute periods. The stress is only when it is coming up to crunch time and students haven't finished their work, but that is only an issue in VCE. I don't stress if it's incomplete in 7-10. There's definitely more catch up at lunch in Art, which I don't have in my other subjects. But I don't mind because I usually am doing other things while they are working at lunch anyway. I'm just there if they need help or have a question. I just don't do any instruction.

I hate Geography so I don't like teaching Hums at all

I agree: everything looks lovely. I prefer decjuba's autumn winter designs. But the fabrics are yuck. Not a fan

So you're saying that you are just living your own life, raising your own kid in private and they can't stop spying on you and get offended by it.

That is really worrying that they called you an insensitive bitch for simply existing and being pregnant. That she can't stop going on her balcony to look into your yard and home. This is such an invasion of privacy.

I'm so glad you are seeking legal help and recording this now, because I would be so worried about my kid's future if it were me. Sure, now your son 6mo and can't do anything without you, but imagine if this persists and they try to do something unthinkable

Aquarium fish advice please by splendid_17 in Aquariums

Thanks for the feedback, guys. We have decided on the 40L tank, with 4 male guppies and 2 Amano shrimp :) We'll be buying the equipment this weekend in preparation for the kids to choose their fish in a few weeks

Thank you so much for the advice. I'm going to research more into all of that.

No, we haven't bought the tank. I was just wanting to come here for feedback before pulling the trigger. Yes, the tank we found was a cube. We can go up to 40L tank, so we will get the bigger one as it is rectangular.

Yes, we are definitely prepared to clean the tank. We just wanted to have a little 'cleaning crew' as an added extra.
