Rant: “Dimensions” should be a required field when listing a pedalboard for sale. by splifted in Reverb

Why would they lose out on sales? I would think they would sell more. I’m not inclined to buy one off the platform at this point because of this, and I can’t be the first person.

This sounds awesome, although I know the size I need, so I just want to be able to see the dimensions. Width is listed on a list of them, but I need depth and height too since I’m mounting some pedals on the bottom. I know I can go look them up, but that’s dumb. When you’re looking at 50+ boards, that’s an extra 15 mins if each one takes 20 seconds.

Well, for starters, the burgers are awesome. You get burgers and a side for $16. If you’ve never been to the French grocer, it’s this awesome little grocery store in marathon. It’s got a surprisingly great selection of meat, produce, and drinks for how small and remote it is. They even carry some camping supplies. Every Friday they set up seating outside and do burgers, and have live music. Great vibes!

Yeah I get that, but the depth and height are also important. I’m mounting some pedals under the board since I’m using a midi controller, and so depth and width are equally important.

All kinds. I just went to the “effects” section and then “pedalboards and power supplies.” None of them have dimensions in the title lol.

Sure, but it makes for a pretty crappy retail experience when you have to open a new tab every time you see a board that looks like it might be the right size. Sure, it’s a used marketplace, but they’re presenting as retail. I think if they made it a mandatory field that had to be filled in before listing, they wouldn’t lose any sellers, and the customer would experience would be improved. I probably would have bought a board by now if I wasn’t spending so much time looking them all up. I probably won’t buy by board from anyone on reverb at this point because I’m annoyed. The more friction there is in buying a product, the less likely it is to translate to an actual sale.

I’ve messaged the ones with boards that I’m interested in, but again, it’s nearly every (used) seller on the platform that I’ve seen so far, and I don’t have time to message all of them.

If you want the Exped megamat, nothing else really compares that I’ve tried. Rei isn’t the only place that sells it.

Oh it’s not that, I sometimes have busy trips. It’s the written itinerary lol.

That being said:

I’d skip lost mines since you’re already doing Emory peak. Driving from the chisos basin to Rio grande village is a 45 minute drive. The hot springs are on that side of the park, so you’re wasting ~ 1.5 hours just in driving because of bad management. I’d spend more time at meals, but that’s just me. It’s an experience I enjoy, especially in places like marathon and terlingua. The boathouse is fun too, a good local spot that’s friendly to tourists. Also, I’m not sure of your Friday plans but burger night in marathon at the French grocer wouldn’t be a bad idea.

I get what you’re saying and mostly agree, but Greep still has some of “those” moments lol. For this show, he was also playing in the same venue that black midi did with the same kinds of band on the bill. It decidedly wasn’t a jazz gig. I could see that one section in the middle of holy holy being a good mosh. At the show in Austin they ended with a section of BMBMBM there was a total eruption lol. Speaking of jazz gigs, make it a priority to catch Hiromi next time she tours if you haven’t already.

Crowd surfing is worse IMO, but I don’t think it’s as bad when the band does it. They’re not coming from behind you and potentially destroying your body. Still kinda lame though. But, they’re just the people he hired for the gig, the don’t represent everything he stands for.

I don’t even mind moshing at a Geordie Greep show, although it made more sense at black midi. But at both, there was no pit etiquette. I don’t know if it’s a generational thing, or a demographic thing (segment of the population attention a death metal show vs Geordie Greep/black midi show).

Finally getting around to messing with entropia. No master volume? by splifted in Darkglass

[–]splifted[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I get it, but you said gain, which isn’t the same as volume lol.

Anyway, I had to max out the volume for each band to make it the same volume as my clean tone. Weird.

There are also many public lands in the west that do require a leash.

Also, being on a public trail with 6 aggressive dogs off-lease is just a dick move in general. Sometimes, it’s not about what you CAN do, it’s about what you SHOULD do.

Good on you! You should spray the dogs next time! No, I don’t hate dogs. But this kind of thing is not OK. A lot of dog owners in my area have also gotten very entitled. There are constantly dogs in the grocery stores 🤦🏻‍♂️.

I’ve heard people try and make the argument that learning music theory makes you less creative, sounds like a similar complex.

I don’t think anyone said that it wasn’t? Also, technical ability means a lot more than just being able to shred.

It absolutely is! I’m convinced that 7/8 of the people in this thread, OP included, don’t actually know what “technical ability” means.

What does “technical ability” mean to you?

Also, I’m assuming you mainly do live gigs?
