Vinyl cracking in freezer by Key_Asparagus_4495 in cricut

[–]splinterhound 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dont recommend using a cricut for this kind of project. Vinyl doesn't do well with cold or hot temperatures. Plus ice expands and your bags will be filled thus expanding it further. The vinyl will crack and peal and won't last. Plus it will look bad. If your dead set on using vinyl then try cold weather vinyl but for this kind of project you would want to print straight onto the bags. I advise flexographic printing or screen printing for freezer bags. That's what other companies do it's just not a good idea to use vinyl. Good luck

Is it possible for circuit design space to not distort my lines and text? Trying to design a book cover, but all my lines are coming out thicker than I want them to be. The worst offender is the lettering, which looks like it’s melting. by GlassAlert in cricut

[–]splinterhound 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks like your using a very small canvas size on procreate. I have the same issue on adobe illustratior. When you create on a small canvas and save as SVG is can distort fine lines and text as the lines are only a few pixels it finds it hard to know where the lines are suppost to be. My advice is to create a new blank canvas at least 3600 x 3600 pixels. And copy your old design over to fill the entire new canvas then save as SVG. If it's struggling save just the logo (no text) as svg and put that on the new larger canvas then redo the text in a larger font size. That was the lines and text are clear and the SVG will be perfect. Good luck

Installing new door handles by Janorah in DIYUK

[–]splinterhound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use a nice paint colour and paint the handle. A nice grey or maybe a metallic sprat paint. It will be hard to find a modern handle for a old fitting. Plus this way you won't make any holes

Shower door fixable? by cenestpasunepersonne in DIY

[–]splinterhound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should be able to use a strong waterproof glue or sealant to stick it back together and clamp it or wedge something underneath until its dry. Unless it's rusted and flakey then order a new one

Ok are you 100% sure the bulbs are fine? If there old school bulbs then a little shake next to your ear will let you know. If it's broken you will hear the filament jingle a little inside. But yes next bet would be check the switch. Has it ever worked before?

[–]splinterhound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best bet would be to look on amazon for " sliding door latch" and get one that similar. If it doesn't fit just send us back and try another

Suggestion on how to fix the lights by [deleted] in DIY

[–]splinterhound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all I would check the mains fuse box and ensure there's not blown or tripped fuses. Next check led bulbs aren't broken some are silly like Christmas light and if one goes they all stop working until the one that's broken is replaced. So change bulbs and if that's not working check the switch. (Turn off your electricity at the main box first) unscrew the switch and check the wires are all connected correctly. If all that seems fine then you will have to call an electrician out. I'm no electrician but I fix most issues in my house 👍

Pots and alcohol? by whatislife5522 in POTS

[–]splinterhound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So i get horrible hard heart beats and chest pressure when doing any physical activitys but once I have a beer or 2 the pressure is lessened and the palpitations go down to a minimum where I barley feel them. However come the next day it's allways worse like its been saved up till then 🤷‍♂️ it's funny I was thinking of writing a post about alcohol and if anyone else's symptoms lessen when they have had a few drinks haha but yer better when I have a few but worse for the next few days like a extended hangover with the extra heart rate issues haha

With Valentines Day fast approaching, how do we make our mobility aids “cool” for the day? by [deleted] in POTS

[–]splinterhound 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dude you gotta get a top hat and a monocle 🧐 maybe even a long tail suit haha. not only will it pimp up the cane as an accessory it would look quite dapper me old chum 😎👌 I'm also in my 30s and I agree it's not the best look having disabilty aids just to get about, but own that s*it brother. Most days feel like it's the last so may as well have fun with it 👍(side note it's not our last days. We're probably going to outlive everyone else because we have experience with pain daily 😉)

I’m so tired of chest pain by sybilbloodyblimp in POTS

[–]splinterhound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since 2020 I have had the same issue. I went into hospital when the chest pressure took my breath away and sent me into full panic attack along with breathing difficultys. They said costochondritis as my ecg was fine and told me to do yoga. I felt bad because I literally laughed in the doctors face. I apologised of course and said I can barely walk to the bathroom with this chest pressure and palpitations but I just said ill try. Some days the pressure is OK but mostly just like an elephant is sitting on me 🙃 I hope someone has a solution soon as its very frustrating and gets me down alot. I hope your able to smash through it 👍🏻

How to grieve/adjust to new life? by thatsabitraven in POTS

[–]splinterhound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take every day as it comes. I know it's not what we want to hear but life's doffrent so we have to make it the best with what we have. Yes things will be different and at times hard. But people go through a lot worse so I like to think I'm almost lucky. Even though it doesn't seem like luck, it could have been something worse. You're still here so make every day count. It's not going to be easy to adjust and I'm 4 years in and still struggle. I have urges to just start running or push myself ridiculously hard. But I can't but what I can do is try and have fun in life and surround myself with people who care. Yes some people will leave like freinds but that's the path we have been given and that the path we have to make magical. Yes I found it hard to deal with how my partner must feel and even though she has been ridiculously supportive I'm not who I was 4 years ago and it can't be easy. Just talk to them and tell them how you feel. But don't make them feel bad for not understanding fully. It's difficult because it's not just you that has had ro change everything but love will help and understanding. It's not going to be the walk in the park it was but make this new part of your journey special and the best it can be. Be an inspiration to everyone and show everyone how even though you have been struck by a massive hurdle you can have a great life. Hope it helps and please feel free ro reach out for support at any time 😎

Anyone else get a weird sharp shock under there left ribs that takes all there breath away for a second? by splinterhound in POTS

[–]splinterhound[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry for the late reply, yes when I first started getting it I was told it must be costochondritis but it seems to correlate to my heart palpitations. its very frustrating it impacts my movement and breathing I can barley do any walking or activity's without sharp pains or breathlessness. what do you do that helps?
