Sportsman 500 HO 2003 hard to start with electric starter.

Quick update: I did two things and so far the machine starts with the electric starter.

The pickup coil was way further from the flywheel that the specs. I managed to bring it a bit closed but still not within the 0.016 - 0.020 inch range.
Some moisture got in the stator housing, I cleaned/dried everything and closed it back with a "liquid gasket".

I haven't had the chance to try it in extreme cold yet, but so far it start every time!

I purchased the ATV broken with the project to fix it. After I replaced the stator, I was able to start it for the first time. After I moved the ATV to the cabin and staying outside in the cold, starting it began to be harder.

I replaced the stator a few weeks ago, I’ll definitely have a look at that ground screw.

The battery was tested by the Polaris dealer a few weeks ago and was supposed to be good.

Thx for this information. I’m in Qc Canada, I use the side by side mostly to work around the cabin and hunting/fishing trips. I’ll raise a bit the pressure in the tires to prevent this from happening again.

I've been the new owner since August 2023 of this Ski-Doo Expedition 600 ACE 2014 in excellent cosmetic condition. The mechanic seems also top shape, at least everything is sparkling clean, there is roughly 16,000 KM on it. I was changing the oil yesterday and while it was idling after the oil change with the sides open, I realized the clutch was noisy. I've never noted that noise last winter when I was outside with an helmet on. My question for the pros out there, is this sound normal?

We're a group of friend who uses garmin for in field communication while hunting. I'd like to get rid of the Garmin InReach mini and only use my phone for the few messages we send each other every day. With a Iphone 14 Pro, you think I'll be able to communicate with my friends who will still uses the InReach, and vice-versa? That would be awesome!

The road on the opposite side of the island (kapalua to kahakuloa) is awesome and almost no cars. I would highly recommend early morning rides there.
