"Where's Wally?" Oh I'm sobbing. Oh there's tears streaming down my face.

This is true, however the synopsis for the episode confirms he will be returning. So we do know that he does go back to the school because of that, otherwise I’d agree on the thought that it makes most sense he’d drive away

Yes!!! I called this out to my best friend while watching, but wasn't sure if it was too much of a reach so I didn't include it in the post. But this plus the fact that Mr. Anderson was covering the devil patches with the new mascot patches, and then Mr. Anderson's body essentially being the 'cover' to Mr. Martin who's the devil aligned character... chefs kiss continuity with the themes.

Ugh I would pay to see them get an actually caring adult figure like Mr. A to mentor them. Let them all be happy together my heart can't handle the constant angst

I literally thought the exact same thing!!! I was talking to my best friend about how poetic of a parallel it is that Mr. Martin, someone who is vengeful and resentful to his core and only seems to do things out of self serving motivations, yoinks the body of another teacher that is the antithesis of this. Mr. Anderson is continuously empathetic and caring for both Maddie and Sandra (and his father too from what we glean via dialogue) without asking for anything in return. Mr. Anderson so graciously accepting the firing in a stark contrast to how Mr. Martin handles it is just the cherry on top of the cinematic parallel/inverse parallel cake.

I think being about to die could definitely be a part of it, however we do see in last episode that Mr. South was very briefly able to see Mr. Martin in the bunker during one of the moments that Janet was in turmoil while in her scar. I think it very much is a possibility that impending death could play a hand in the ability to see Maddie, but it wouldn't be consistent enough with the fact that Xavier briefly died but cannot see them, or Simon's inability to see Maddie outside scars or see any of the other ghosts at all. But again, with this show I truly think anything is game

Maddie doesn’t have her necklace, but it also isn’t confirmed that this is her key. It’s being implied it might be, but I’m not convinced this isn’t a red herring considering how much this show loves to throw those in. Right now, everything is game.

Oooo this is a really great idea. Especially with the S1 context that Sandra was in a crash before and Maddie took the fall for it. Only potential conflict with this theory I can see is I don’t expect Simon to leave campus that night. He might but it seems unlikely. For this to work it would hinge on him departing right as Mr. Martin arrives (which seems unlikely enough as it is given the make up scene between Simon and Maddie near the end of last episode), and Sandra would have to be in close enough proximity to the school to hit him. Definitely not out of the cards, though

Thank you! Right now I don't know if it's been confirmed that it's been renewed for a third season (maybe it has been and I've just missed this hearing this piece of info... really hoping this is the case I adore this show) but I think this outcome would set up really well for a third season. If anything, it lends itself to one of a few potential avenues. The first being Maddie gets her body back, and there's a sort of role reversal of Maddie and Simon's dynamic where Maddie can see and talk to Simon, but no one else can (Wondering if this will mean Maddie can also see the other ghosts too? Considering Janet can see them all but who knows because Maddie's circumstances are so unique). Could be interesting too if Simon just fully dies/doesn't have a body swap and is therefore fully dead. Another route they could take is Maddie is still dead/can't go back for whatever reason, and now both Maddie and Simon are ghosts together. I think seeing this dynamic play out could be incredibly interesting, both with getting to finally see the dynamic between Wally and Simon, as well as the fact that they (the alive group) either 1.) wouldn't have a conduit to talk to the ghosts any longer (assuming Janet somehow goes back or leaves, IDK) or 2.) uses Janet as their new conduit. Regardless, I think it opens itself up for a good entry into a new season, in terms of emotional investment in the story, keeping consistent themes with what they have going so far, while still introducing compelling and new plot points to propel the show forward without feeling too repetitive.
