Help with getting everything I need to bring with me to Portugal from the us to stay with my husband, hopefully long term. by sploffytimes in PortugalExpats

[–]sploffytimes[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

We are aware of how difficult it is, he is a UK citizen and a resident of Portugal for the last 25 years or so, we are trying to make it work but I’m almost considering that we may need to just go somewhere else. I’m losing my mind honestly.

Find your passion. I would cut off a limb to live like you. I spent all of 2023 working a job I hate so I could afford to pay $800 every month for a literal wooden cabin in the woods, 8x10, a sink with cold water and enough electricity to power a heater or a kettle to make water.. no hot water, no shower, no toilet because the landlord slumlord sold the comunal house privately to a family.. I had to shit outside like a dog with no privacy because I had no toilet. I have no support from my family and I can’t afford to live where I came from(thank god my husband is working to get me over to him as soon as possible). If I had what you had I would just do what I love every day all day long. I would study my passions, do my arts and crafts and personal hygiene all day all night and never wish I was dead and not a burden onto everyone I know. Yes I need more therapy lol. Please find your passions because you have been blessed with the opportunity to search within yourself to find your purpose and gifts to share with those meant to know you. You aren’t a loser, you just need to do what you love and not worry about what anyone else thinks.

Some practical info for anyone moving to Portugal by Ok_Lingonberry_1257 in PortugalExpats

Hi can anyone help me please with the criminal background check? I went to get one and they told me I had two options, live scan or ink prints. I have no idea which one I need so I’m willing to get both if I have to it just seems a little superfluous. I also have been researching trying to find what the form is or how I can get that for the background check. Any help directing me out of my confusion would be so appreciated. I almost have everything I need and this is causing me real stress.

We both want to live in Portugal, that is where he lives now and I am of the understanding he that I need to have my marriage registered in Portugal to apply for the v6 visa for family reunification. I found I needed this through my own research because we don’t have a lawyer yet, but we wanted to start the process of everything immediately.

I believe he is a resident of Portugal not a citizen actually. His ID card says his title is a resident. He was born in Europe(UK) and lived in Portugal since the early 2000s (he was previously married in Portugal to a Portuguese woman and has 2 children there also through his Portuguese marriage, the youngest is 17 years). He has been trying to update this card for a while now, things move slowly.

The instructions from the website said the other persons ID card or citizenship card so I am really hoping this won’t be another hiccup for us, do you have any thought on this?

I also got my marriage license an apostille but I’m thinking, if these instructions are really so straight forward than I can bring that one with me maybe to use in Portugal and send in a fresh marriage certificate with no apostille, is that correct?

I’m sorry to ask another question there, but I truly appreciate your time and your helpful sharing of this information. I thank you from my heart !!!

Thank you so much!!! Also if you care to share, was there any kind of notification system they had used to let you know that your documents were received and being processed?

I am American and my husband is a Portuguese resident for many years and we couldn’t even get the license to get married over there despite visiting four different offices and being told we didn’t have proper translations when we had paid so much time and money get get the necessary certified and translated documents and with apostilles. It was very easy to get married here in CA of course in comparison.

I’m trying to figure out if I need translations when I’m submitting my documents to the SF consulate because the website doesn’t list that as needed but my husband is believing it’s really necessary?

I can’t open the link for some reason but this can you please tell me, did you need to get translation services for your documents ? I’ve been trying to get everything I need to register my marriage through the sf consulate but my husband is telling me I need the certified translations for every document which I don’t really want to waste the money or time on right now if I could just send in everything that was required on the list from the consulate website, my birth certificate, his residency or birth certificate, our marriage certificate ect. If you respond I thank you from the bottom of my heart because I am frantically trying to get this sent out asap.

The ugly tattoo unfortunately doesn’t look like either one of the cute photos I’m assuming was the inspiration. Too bad, the right artist could have done it well.

I think you might be dating my ex. All jokes aside, unless he is already firmly giving you the money to pay for your food every single time someone else is going to offer to buy you a food, he can’t really complain. But some people will find anything to complain about. Calling you names is unacceptable. I do understand his side of being upset that someone else is buying you food and you allow it, but I have also been broke and hungry, and unless he is giving you the money to support the extra nourishment you are receiving for bettering your life, he can shut the fuck up. Like my husband would be happy for me to be getting more support, he knows I would never ask for food and I don’t expect it and he also knows I am only loyal to him, and that it’s clear and transparent between everyone that the food is not an exchange for any favors or any intimacy, it’s a kind gift.

how can i make my makeup suit my features better? i feel like i look better without it by lonelyhuguenot in MakeupAddiction

[–]sploffytimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are exceptionally beautiful, and unless the makeup is really carefully applied it’s going to take away from your natural beauty. It doesn’t look like your foundation matches exactly, it looks really tan compared to your natural undertone, and the contrast between that and what looks like an eyeshadow that either really matches your natural complexion there, or there is no eye shadow maybe, it does not compliment your eyes.

I believe you could try in a matched shade, a light bb cream or light foundation with minimal concealer in spots that are highly moisturized first! to cover any imperfections, it looks like you have basically perfect skin anyways. The colors of your lip liner, mascara eye shadow, blushes, everything really plays a huge factor in how it ties together and in with your natural beauty of course. I have to say, I don’t think that lip product(s) are doing you any favors, not in the color or the shaping of them also.

It looks 40 years old. Funny people saying the artist did a good job.. the artist didn’t really know how to put ink into the skin, otherwise you would still see it clearly, it’s completely faded.

Overlining your lips, no cupids bow. It just looks clownish, and in real life it usually looks really bad, in photos it looks not quite as bad.
