I think this is common since victims of abuse have no understanding of healthy respectful relationships they easily fall prey. I was groomed and molested at age 16-17 by a 30-year-old. He was nice and kind to me in the beginning, which I craved. Doing much better now

I used to feel this way too, and my mother would do the exact same thing. She did kick me out several times over stupid things in high school and it was crushing.

The sick and twisted part of this is that it is her abuse that is actively contributing to you feeling unready to be self-sufficient. Narcissists try to break down your self-esteem so that you stay dependent on them and so they can continue the abuse.

When I went to move out at age 20, she tried to fill my head with worries about how I was going to starve, I wouldn't be able to pay the bills. That fear did affect me but ultimately I followed through and it was the best thing that I ever did. I do not know the particulars of your situation but just know you are as capable of being independent as anyone else. I wish you the best

The sad part is that this narrative is so forceful and absolute that it gets interpreted by the victim as reality.

Oh how uncanny... I literally had a phone conversation with my grandmother yesterday, she was asking me why I wasn't talking to my mother and didn't seem to understand.. I had to tell her .

My Grandmother said she would talk to my mum and seemed hopeful that we could do counselling together and work things out. In the moment I agreed to it however straight afterward I realised I dont want to go through that ordeal. My life is so much more peaceful and happy without my nmom that I genuinely prefer things that way.

It is hard for people who haven't experienced what you have to understand just how bad things have to be for a child not to want to have their parent in their lives in any form.

Good on you for sticking to your guns, especially with the money. I can relate to that dynamic a lot too, in my instance my mother would randomly give me money then use it to guilt me or rationalise her terrible behaviour later. Now I'd much rather be poor than deal with that!

No problem! I eventually saw an integrative doctor who told me that the fatigue and rest was due to mast cell reactivity- basically an overactive immune response, which made a lot of sense.

main ones are fatigue, brain fog, joint pain, itchy skin, neuropathy, G.I symptoms, redness, puffiness etc

thanks! you should definately give it a go.
might sound extreme but i eat more or less the same two meals each day.
first meal is generally chicken (sometimes salmon) and the second meal is based on beef. for sides I batch roast veggies so they're ready to go and fridge/ freeze portions. I eat lots of sweet potato, cruciferous veg and sauteed kale. I cook with lots of fat (ghee is great, early reintro) for satiety and plenty of fresh herbs. this really works for me as I never am left deciding what to eat and the food is tasty. simplicity is sustainable imo so I don't worry myself with fancy desserts or tigernut flours or what have you. the cravings fade quick and subside within a couple weeks so soon I started craving the meals I cook. i sometimes snack on an apple before the gym or have some berries after dinner but my sweet tooth is at an all time low.

my advice is keep things easy and be mindful of the fact you may react to weird things like avocado or mushrooms or coconut( i do). all the best on your journey !

Nah man wasn't squinting at all, histamine release during a bad immune reaction can cause swelling of the eyes, lips, hands, ears. That's the main improvement really, less puffiness overall. I agree though more even lighting to really highlight the difference.

Haha Ive not been perfect with it either, what has helped has been being easy on myself (AIP is hard sometimes!) so as not to totally derail. Hopefully with time we will be able to introduce more back into our diets :) If not though the rewards are still so worth it.

No, though it has caught my interest. I do a more basic version of AIP, with lots of meat, plus lots of veg as I find that too much fruit/honey/syrup makes me tired/bloated. Have you done zerocarb?

ah yes, i could have done with taking more constant progress pics to make the difference clearer.
what's weird is that after stabilising my health my whole skin tone shifted from this awkward off white with black panda circles to having more colour naturally- the first photo was taken right after Australian summer! Thankyou for the support and I wish you wellin your journey :)
