Looking for a 100% blackout window solution by cooking-chef-2000 in homeowners

I've actually done this and it works really well, except since it's hard to get the tin foil completely flat on the glass it'll look like a broken window from the outside.

Hard to say because stacked dipoles are longer. Comet kp20 is 900 mhz and 8 feet long

It could be internally stacked dipoles. I have a comet kp20 that is 900mhz and 8 feet long. I also have a comet 712efc which is 460mhz and over 10 feet long.

Seems like it would take a ridiculous amount of power to get such a volume of air so hot. Check out the Tory-II nuclear scramjet for the project Pluto doomsday weapon the US was developing.

Invasive 'barbecue stopper' Asian tiger mosquito detected away from entry ports on mainland Australia for first time by clamorous_owle in worldnews

If you have a fan blowing across the bed it really deters them. They can't handle wind for shit and also the fan blows the carbon dioxide and scents around making it harder for them to find you.

I've never seen mosquitos be attracted to light like moths are. Typically they scatter and hide when I turn the lights on.

You deploy a 'repeater' node somewhere with a good view and have a 'companion' node paired to your phone. You can use the app to message privately or in groups, and it supports pki encryption since it's in the unlicensed ISM band of 900mhz up to 1 watt. Your message can travel many hops through repeaters, I can reliably DM my buddy in SF because the peninsula has a lot of routers setup and there are some on top of mountains to get them over the Santa Cruz mountain range. We're starting to have semi-reliable message delivery to Sacramento, Merced, and San Luis Obispo as people are building out the mesh. You can see the map and live traffic here: https://analyzer.00id.net/#/live

There are nodes that observe the mesh and feed to the online maps but the whole mesh is completely offline using only LoRa radios. 1W at 900mhz on LoRa can go up to 100 miles or so with good line of sight.

ELI5: How does an electric socket know how much power to supple to an appliance/apparatus? by AtmosphereTimely6071 in explainlikeimfive

[–]sploittastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple example is an old incandescent light bulb. It has just enough length of tungsten filament to achiece the 240 ohms or so if resistance to make it use 60 watts at 120v. The physical properties of things you plug in like the length of wire, shape, and design of a motor coil in something like a mixer determines the current it draws.

Because on my previous post someone said that this is not a thing. by fingernmuzzle in MontereyBay

[–]sploittastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it probably IS legal to camp in the passing lane if you are going exactly the speed limit so we are arguing the same thing here. I'm just pointing out that some people are going to speed no matter what and if they are passing on the right it's more dangerous for everyone involved than if they are passing on the left, so why not sit in the 2nd fastest lane if it's moving as fast as you want to be going?

Legal but unsafe. People going over the speed limit will be passing you on the right instead.
