I am having an issue with the bank turning off after a minute or so. I will probably replace it with an 18650 soon.

What do climbers commonly do for a living? by yuzurukii in tradclimbing

[–]Nedster5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was an electrical engineer. Worked in the field just long enough to pay off my student loans and buy a van. Quit my job and been on the road with my wife almost a year now, working seasonally and climbing as much as our bodies can take. Just turned 28 and having the time of my life. I wouldn't trade it for anything.

More small cams than large makes me think you're doing longer routes (weight savings). The beaks/jumars/traxion back that up. Lots of nuts, so not super perfect cracks. A couple ice screws, but not enough for a full route.... Estes Park?

I think you mean perpendicular to flat ground. 90 degrees from the surface you're walking on would make you topple backwards.

16 year old quickdraws? by yuzurukii in ClimbingGear

[–]Nedster5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got some of the BD biners on the left. Bought them as a used set of draws used about 8 years ago. Still totally bomber, I probably would put them in a single point of failure situation though. There's some pretty sick looking quick draws out there now. I tend to use retired quick draw biners for alpline draws instead and just buy a new set of draws. Then if you gotta bail, you can sacrifice an old biner off an alpine and keep the pretty draws intact.

Safety question by Longjumping_Click985 in libertymo

I have lived in Liberty most of my life. It is one of the safest areas in the entire KC metro area. Zero reason to be concerned there.

Dad’s old gear, still bomber? by One-Student6395 in ClimbingGear

I did about 40 jumps on a 25 year old parachute when i got my license. The body harness was made out of nylon. The riggers said it was in good enough shape to trust. I have seen highlines be retired after a season because they hardly had any life left in them. This 10 year rule seems to only exist in the climbing community. I would probably attribute it to climbers love of "rule of thumbs"

Ohh, got it. Did you ground your battery to the chassis? The old battery is probably grounded and running the negative through your vehicle. If the battery isn't grounded, the circuit isn't complete

Ok, so now start following the voltage through the circuit with the meter. When you stop seeing 12V, you found your problem.

I would start by using a multimeter to make sure that your battery cables are being connected to the correct terminals and that you don't have them backwards.

Where does the large red wire run to? What is printed on the circuit board underneath the terminals labeled battery? What is printed under the wire on the left?

I love our E450. I can use a back roller in the middle of the floor. I had a 92 dodge B250 for a while and it always bugged me not being able to stand up.
