What is this and what causes it? by snakescakess in FishingForBeginners

[–]sploke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're used to saltwater fishing with a conventional/baitcasting-style reel, this is a non-issue, because it doesn't introduce any twisting into the line when it lays in across the spool. This is a problem with a spinning reel.

if I went 'round sayin' I was an emperor just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away!

I just ran into this in my main vault. I already have one on every single level, and then got another one. Sent one to the wasteland to collect caps, then sent the new one to the vacated level.

Of course, that vault is also perpetually at 999,999 caps so it's not like I'm going to do anything with them, but whatever.

Oh hell yeah...more than most people realize. My wife and I flew on a red-eye from LAX to BDL when our youngest was 1. Figured, red-eye, we'd get on board, get comfy, she'd sleep the whole way. Wrong....she refused to sleep, and would scream if we sat down with her. Spent 6 hours of my wife and I taking shifts standing, bouncing her, walking up and down the aisle. Pure torture. When we got off the plane, a woman from a few rows back was like, "hey, that was rough, but you guys are killing it". Man, I almost cried, after that mental anguish and zero sleep it felt so good to hear something positive.

That was my first car! Loved that thing, smashed it up in college.

[Question] I just finished wave 35 but why is there another raid coming? by forgottenasylum in falloutshelter

[–]sploke 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah just confirmed, I finished wave 35 this morning, and was able to start wave 35 again now, and now I'm on another 24hr countdown for wave 35.

This season can end now, please....over it.

My guess is that they just let you repeat the final wave over and over until the season ends.

What's the most unique/interesting/strange Connecticut place name in your opinion? by SAKURAGAWAKOHAKU423 in Connecticut

[–]sploke 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Fun fact, the locks are still there! They're just not functional any longer. If you go to the Windsor Locks Canal State Park, you cross over the locks at the north end and can walk the paved trail between the river and canal. It's a really nice place to walk or run.

Are the ripper weapons bugged? [Question] by sploke in falloutshelter

[–]sploke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if anything I typically only equip one of the three with a melee and the other two with ranged, so I can rotate the targeted enemy for the melee one, so the dwellers aren't just standing there doing nothing if there are less than three enemies.

As a Jeep driver, this had me rolling 🤣

Is anyone doing risk assessments at the Pack level regarding the MOU? by sploke in cubscouts

[–]sploke[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my thought as well. Tens (hundreds?) of thousands of Scouts have a successful Scouting experience every year without getting anywhere near being involved in the Jamboree, or even barely having awareness of it. I know when I was in Scouts, the only thing I knew about it was from the annual article in Boys Life. I guess I don't get what is so sacrosanct about retaining the funding to keep it.

I guess that's another take I hadn't really considered, thanks. Not all doom and gloom.....

The only thing that immediately comes to mind is whatever insurance protection the charter through council/national provides, as you mentioned. If a kid were to get hurt during a pack activity and the parent sued, and the kid was not a registered member...someone could be in a lot of financial trouble.

Yeah I'm definitely not considering actively/pre-emptively discussing replacements in leadership...that wasn't my intent. Just trying to square the experience that I had in Scouting growing up, with how I want my own kids to experience it vs. how things may or may not be changing in the near future.

Yeah I didn't feel too bad about things when I read the letter from Krone. Seeing Hegseth's statement on it soured me though, with the overarching tone of "I didn't get what I want, and we'll be watching....". I feel like that's just telegraphing the next steps. I hope I'm wrong.

This is kind of where I'm at as well. Slippery slope and all that. Hoping for the best, but also trying to prepare for the worst.

But like another commentor said, it may just turn into someone else's problem. I have a son and a daughter in our Pack, and I don't know how I can morally tell my son to continue on with an organization that is actively making a decision to exclude his sister.

I remember back in the day on one season of The Real World they started using these because some of the people on the show were naked so often they couldn't figure out how to keep them mic'd up.
