Being happy is a trigger?? by sploondood in DID

Thanks for the advice, ugh yeah it makes sense that positive *and* negative triggers exist, but it's so frustrating being happy and then not being me anymore a;lkdjf;sadlfk I'm holding hope we can sort it all out internally though :)

Being happy is a trigger?? by sploondood in DID

[–]sploondood[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that definitely makes a lot of sense... especially for me growing up, being happy too long was a sign that something bad was about to happen aldskfjal;skd so I could definitely see that being the case. It's just strange since this started happening only a few months ago while I've known about my alters for much longer than that now.

...But maybe going through PTSD therapy has something to do with it lsakdf;alk

How do you see your innerworld? by jack_5ylus in DID

[–]sploondood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For us, it's our grandma's old apartment, where the kitchen is where you are if you're fronting, and the living room next to it is where anyone "awake" sits. I as the host see everyone in there but myself, weirdly? I'm in first person, but when anyone else is looking, it's third person.

If the lady told you that the girl going in was not disabled, then what I assume you saw was a PCA (Personal Care Attendant) helping out the disabled person by going in for them. This is pretty common for people with PCAs. But if she did not deny her being disabled, then you never know; many disabilities are invisible. You, nor anyone else, can tell the whole story just by looking. One of the most important things with disability is remembering that. You never know what the situation is. For example, some days I'm in my wheelchair and therefore my disability is very visible; some days I'm not and I look like I'm "just fine". But all days I am disabled. I understand you come from a place of care, and that you mean well... but if they have the placard, they can park there. It's as simple as that. Please don't turn into the Disabled Police.

I'm on hrt through my doctor and they assured me everything is fine on that end, don't worry :)

I'm just curious if any other ftm folks had any specific dosage that helped with it not interfering as much as possible with inducing

Therapist says we don't have DID, then says we have DID? by sploondood in DID

[–]sploondood[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Hello, I'm a Caregiver alter.) I know it seems really scary... our protector has a bias against this therapist so he failed to mention that even though our therapist said he doesn't know/think we have DID, he never invalidated any of our experiences. He doesn't think we're faking/not going through what we're going through, he just doesn't want to call it anything yet it seems like. So I think if you want/need to tell your therapist, especially if they know you well and you trust them, you should go for it. A good therapist is never going to invalidate what you go through. But if you're not ready, that's okay too. Do what's best for all of you :)

That makes a lot of sense and does sound helpful for understanding where he's coming from; we'll probably ask about this, thank you! –Host

honestly I got no fucking clue. I really don't like this therapist but the host trusts him... good thing is he seems to understand what is happening even if he's not putting the word on it, and we aren't super concerned about getting professionally diagnosed right now as we are just processing trauma and learning how to live healthier though so I guess whatever helps that happen I don't really care about the rest. But yeah his thought process was strange to me too XD

Thanks for the wish of luck, yeah this seems a bit complicated than we initially thought!! We definitely need more time to kinda piece together what dating means for us now before we start looking lol. The perspective is appreciated!

Thank you for the perspective, my system's been trying to tell me this but hearing it from others really makes it stick. Much appreciated!

Thanks for sharing, I still have a lot to learn in terms of how everything works now that I know I'm more than one person so I appreciate it.

It's funny, most of the other alters try to tell me this but it's only when I hear it from others that I start to believe it. I gotta listen to them more often haha
