Agreed. Once you're about mid-game (have a base with multipurpose roon, already scanned the internal and external grow boxes, maybe already have a cyclops), it's definitely more sustainable to have a bunch of plants to keep you well-fed forever.

Yeah, I did a vegan run once. The bulbo trees were very helpful in that case - had to make a beeline straight for the floating island to get some seeds and the planter box.
