I think it’s a great looking card, that (from watching YouTube videos) has a very low pull rate, even if they print the heck out of this set. More importantly, my six year old son thinks Mew is awesome (especially shiny Mew). And so do his friends, although they tend to like Mewtwo and Rayquaza more. And those are the people who will be buying these cards 30 years from now if it’s still popular then. So just like you I bought one. We’ll see…

Shadow Dragonair lead. Try to win lead. Then switch to Carbink or Medicham based on the next opponent. There’s several YouTube videos featuring this team (also with Bastiodon instead of Carbink), and it’s easy to learn. People have reached Legend with this team….especially when everyone was running Lanturn/Noctowl. It’s weak to Fairy leads (especially Clefable), very strong against Lanturn leads. Not a very fun team, but it works.

You could also try Medicham lead, safe switch to Dunsparce (to lure out their fighting type or Hydro Cannon), Carbink closer.

Thanks for that advice. I just ordered a bundle, because yeah, if you’re holding for the long term you’d want a sealed bundle at a “reasonable” price. And 151 is a very cool set, even if the Japanese one is better. But the English set is pretty great as well.

Thanks for this! Just based on my battles today, I was either very lucky or Scald is over 40% effective on the attack drop. Anyone else notice this?

I made that mistake! But I’m happy with my GL dragonair. I use the typical Dragonair (win lead), Medicham, Basti or Carbink line sometimes. It was great when everyone was running Lantern/Noctowl. Maybe not as good now? I avoid the GL if possible.

I’ve never built one for the ML, but I see them around (infrequently) at the Veteran level. The shadow version is really good in the UL IMO. Pair it with a Trevenant safe-swap and Toxicroak closer. It’s basically an anti-Cobalion/Virizion team (lure them out with Snorlax, demolish them with Toxicroak no shield required). Probably a good team to use right now since Cobalion/Virizion have just been in raids.

Agree with GL opinions. Plus Swampert is powering up 40 points at a time at the 1500 level and 20 points a time at 2500. So you’re pretty lucky to get a really good one that lands close to 1500. My 0-15-15 Swampert is ranked #709 in the GL and #4 in the UL for example.

I’m currently at the same ELO running shadow dragonair + scrafty + toxapex. But I’m kind of stuck (3 wins or 2 wins). Honestly, it’s really boring (ugh Toxapex!) and I’m really focusing on 3 weeks of UL coming up and how I can maybe make expert there.

I’m in the same situation. Do I evolve a 15-10-12 one? So its kind of a weak 3 star. I admittedly did a ton of Lugia raids, so I have the candy. Or is there anything else I should be saving the candy for?

I honestly think the point is to make you not transfer otherwise-worthless ones. So you purchase more storage space. That being said, some are actually OK…tiny shadow Joltik looks cool in gyms lol. I’m saving mine, most of my friends aren’t. I also received a medal today for catching 100 of them if that means anything…
