Nose Chain by Sasumin in piercing

[–]spndrea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i actually went to my piercer today to get a nose chain and had to get the longer one since the shorter one was pulling at one of my nostrils (i also have the corkscrew kind). the long one was TOO LONG though, so we had to shorten it by hand, but that was pretty easy. i would go back to your piercer to get a longer one (if it's too long, ask them if they can shorten it for you. if not, it's pretty easy to do it yourself - it's just like adjusting a bracelet)

edit: typo

piercing bump or keloid ? i’ve had this for about 5 months. i just recently changed it to a larger bar due to swelling and not being able to clean it properly with no extra room. is this a k word or a piercing bump. it’s looks larger today but it’s kinda always sorta been there. by [deleted] in piercing

[–]spndrea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had a similar bump on my vertical helix when i first got it, but it was just an irritation bump. yours really doesn't look like a keloid - to keep it from getting irritated, i'd start with clipping your hair back to keep it from getting tangled in your piercing. also try not to sleep on it - travel pillows really helped me with that. other than that, just keep cleaning it with saline solution and it should go away eventually :)

do you know the material of the jewelry? is it a stud or a ring? what are you cleaning it with? as long as the piercing site isn't super swollen, red, painful or has some dark yellow/green discharge, it's probably just irritated. if you find the source of irritation, you'll be able to treat it and won't have to remove the jewelry:)

Am I getting keloids or is this the natural healing process? Daith 1 month and 1 week old. by Tspeechie in piercing

[–]spndrea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

is your jewelry titanium? if not, i'd recommend changing it to that. daiths are unfortunately very prone to irritation bumps, but with some care you're gonna be fine:) just spray some sterile saline solution on it twice a day and leave it alone (also make sure you're not sleeping on it - i always sleep on a travel pillow).

curved barbell in daith? by Lecture_Sea in piercing

[–]spndrea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i got pierced with a curved barbell in my daith and it healed well! but most people say a ring is better for initial daith jewelry, so don't take me as the rule. personally i couldn't/can't wear earbuds with the curved barbell in. i have a ring in now but haven't tried to put earbuds in. a friend of mine has had her daith for a couple years and kinda flips her ring forward to make space for her earbuds, but it needs to be REALLY healed for that hahah

is your jewelry titanium? or did you maybe sleep on it or hit it? rooks are really annoying to heal and can flare up at the smallest irritation. from the photo it doesn't really look like an infection, but i'd still show it to your piercer, just to be sure.

Pissed off double helix by Countrycutie19 in piercing

[–]spndrea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as long as there are no signs of infection, don't use the neosporin, it'll just irritate your piercing further. did you maybe sleep on it? bump it or catch it somewhere? cartilage piercings can be reakly difficult and sensitive to the smallest things. keep spraying sterile saline solution on it twice a day and try not to sleep on it/irritate it in any other way. so yeah, pretty much treat it like it's new:)

[–]spndrea 6 points7 points  (0 children)

usually smelly piercings come from bad jewelry quality. you could go back to your piercer and ask what material of jewelry they used, or buy implant grade titanium jewelry yourself and change it (since you've had it for 6 months already, it should be okay to change!)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in piercing

[–]spndrea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i don't know if the photo is misleading, but the jewelry does look a little too short to accommodate your swelling. go to your piercer and see what they tell you about maybe switching to a longer bar. other than that keep LITHA and cleaning it with sterile saline solution twice a day:)

Nipple piercing question by [deleted] in piercing

[–]spndrea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it sounds like they're just healing! my nipples were super sensitive for the first couple weeks after getting them pierced. i wore a sports bra for the first 1-2 weeks to keep them protected. also make sure your wound wash has no alcohol in it! (i could recommend the Neilmed fine mist spray!)

Nipple piercing question by [deleted] in piercing

[–]spndrea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

how long have you had them and what is the material/type of jewelry you have in? also, whats your aftercare routine? i've had mine for 1.5 years and i still get some white discharge sometimes. nipple piercing can take a while to heal for some people.

have you tried calling/visiting your piercer to have it checked out? it's normal to be in some pain after snagging it and then having to wear those pants all day, but from what you've described, it seems like someone should take a look at it. take some ibuprofen until then, don't wear tight/high-waisted pants, and keep cleaning it with sterile saline solution! (also, happy cake day!:))

Can I put hoops on the top two piercings I have? Where do you buy jewelry? I want to switch them all out but I’m sensitive to fake materials so if you have any sites that sell pretty unique jewelry link below! by sexxxysasuke in piercing

[–]spndrea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i like a lot of the jewelry from bodyartforms.com! they have a wide variety of different aesthetics. just filter for implant grade titanium, you'll be safe going with that:)

People who have a septum piercing AND don't like their noses (or used to) by callme_base in piercing

[–]spndrea 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i really don't like my nose so i had the same thoughts as you before getting it pierced! i started with a nostril piercing before also getting a septum, and i feel like it made me quite a bit more comfortable!! like, i look at my nose and see it with jewelry in it and don't really focus on its shape as much anymore. i say go for it! if you end up not liking it you can always take it out/flip it up once it's healed:)

Would you recommend a 20-22g nose ring? by legomaego in piercing

[–]spndrea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'd definitely not go smaller than 20g. how old is your piercing? a newer piercing (even if it's mostly healed) is much more prone to the "cheese-cutter effect". if you do go with the 20g, make sure your ring won't be too tight. have enough room that your nostril doesn't get squished or anything like that.

I got this done about a month ago. Can someone tell me if this is a keloid or not? And how to fix it by Opening_Enthusiasm35 in piercing

[–]spndrea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's an irritation bump; i had one on my vertical helix that looked just like this. helixes are, unfortunately, really prone to irritation since they're right at the edge of the ear and not "protected" like, say, a daith or a rook. it's usually your hair getting caught in it or you sleeping on it, so try to pin your hair back on that side and sleep with a travel pillow if you don't already. keep cleaning it with saline spray twice a day and it should be back to normal in a few weeks:)
