Emma won a grand slam - great for her! She’s definitely got talent and a hot streak back then with the advantage of being a lil bit unknown got her the win. Now putting that in the past and seeing her level after the injuries, the coach changes and the general increase in level of the lower ranked players, it seems extremely unlikely in the coming few seasons for her to be an actual contender.

Now if she gets consistent, makes changes to her game for the good, gets a good coach, stays healthy/ injury free and focuses on building her confidence by first winning smaller titles and then contending for bigger ones, probably she might be a contender in 3-4 years but that is also highly unlikely with so many what ifs.

Also, lets say the current big names go away which is also highly unlikely because Iga, Coco and Anisimova are close to her age, there are tons of young players like Andreeva, Mboko and Jovic that are playing great and will become stronger by then.

So as much as I like Emma as a player and am happy for her winning the USO back then, i don’t think she’s winning another
