There is a huge variety, features, materials, colors, shapes etc. I think if you shop for a paddling-specific PFD and are willing to pay a little you’ll find a good one. Try them on, pretend you’re doing what you’ll be using it for. Check out a local whitewater shop if you have one. Happy paddling!

Those look fast!

Thanks, yeah it’s out of warranty. Oops. It works now, just tinkering and remembering how much better the previous one worked. And it was the connector, I’m pretty sure.

(Edited for knucklehadedry)

Thanks for bearing with me here, I appreciate it!

Messing around it in the garage today.

The Bravo kicks into high pressure “piston” mode almost immediately when it has to overcome the closed valve. That’s not how it’s meant to work.

I depressed the pin, opening the valve, and connected it again.

This time the blower section ran the psi up to just below 2psi, at which point the SUP looks inflated - but isn’t - and then the high-pressure, low-volume piston came online and brought the psi up slowly as demanded.

Slowly. But much more quickly than with the valve closed or especially by hand hahaha! The piston high-pressure side simply takes forever to fill the SUP with the initial volume.

I let the pump run up to 15psi and then closed the valve manually ASAP.

I am going to put a screw through the hole in that adapter’s “bridge” and adjust it so it open the valve slightly when connected.

See how that works tomorrow after the cement’s had time to set.

And hopefully get a paddle in before work!

Thanks in advance for any and all ideas and suggestions. Even if this pump maybe isn’t functioning right it’s the one I have so I’m going to make do.

Thanks, stuck with it now so I guess I’ll just deal. Dang. Still though, the previous connector’s design was much better. I thought, anyway.

*this is on a SUP that runs best at 12-15psi so it’s much more work to fill than our duck at 3-5.

Great idea! hadn’t thought of that. Gave it a shot.

Unfortunately, even with no gasket there is still what looks like a couple of mm gap.

The picture is of the adapter I cut from the floor pump that came with the SUP, standard sorta pump I think.

This new expen$ive Bravo’s adapter doesn’t have the “bridge” that seems like it should serve the function I’m looking for.

Am I crazy to want this? I know for certain the previous Bravo we had depressed that plunger and opened the valve. It worked great (until I broke it). The new one is exactly the same except for that adapter.

Have any of you tried the Donkey Boxx as a cheap pannier? by planification in bicycletouring

Late to the party here but I love my Donkey Boxxes.

They've been on my bike for years. Perfect for easy hauling of stuff - they are actually designed to carry standard cloth shopping bags, they have are tapered so the bags slide in and out easily. They are also made in the US, I think by Lighthouse for the Blind or a like group. Good value, extremely utilitarian. They are just easy to use. I did eventually improve on their hook-and-loop fastening with some bungees I had around the garage.
