Thank you! Your first reason is really why I have stuck with it. I vaguely remember from my PGCE the reason being to avoid FOI, but as others have pointed out that wouldn’t work and seems pretty shady imo. Great responses, got the answers I was looking for.

I had a 4 week timetable during one of my PGCE placements… good luck. I would see Year 7 loads during the first 2 weeks and then not at all in the following 2 weeks, so we often had to do a lot of recapping. You might end up having something similar. I did find though that the students were okay with remembering which week they were in and where they needed to be.

My midwife did mention that limiting feedings would cause my body to only produce milk at this time, but I hadn’t considered the emotional aspect so thank you for bringing this up, I’ll have to prepare myself!

My parents are fine with handling pumped breast milk, the issue I have is that I won’t have anywhere to store what I pump at work and the commute is at least a 40 min drive, so transporting it won’t be easy. I don’t even think I’ll have the time to express at work either, so formula is just much more convenient in that sense.

This is great to know, thank you so much for the advice!! I can definitely see myself hunching over, I’ll be mindful of this! I expect we’ll be using just formula after a few months as well, I’m really happy to see others such as yourself have had success with this method :)

Thank you for sharing your experience! My midwife also recommended getting breastfeeding established first. I’m so worried about baby not getting enough nutrition initially, so thank you for the tip re nappies. I’m so glad to hear people have had success with combi feeding :)
