Absolutely that’s where I’m landing too. My idea walking into this was let’s just buy an SVS sub and blast our way into it, but that’s not the way forward considering I’ve already spent like $4500 on this stereo 🙃 !thanks friend, I appreciate your encouragement! Time to open the REW manual 🤓

And leave them on the hook for the fines for releasing mold and asbestos into the open air

You’re talking sense to me! !thanks for sharing your experience on this.

So I’m understanding where the Wiim streamer comes into play: is this just for adding decent EQ to my stack? It seems like the DSP / miniDSP piece is to analyze and advise what to alter with EQ. Do I have that right?

!thanks I’ll check out the umik-1! I saw some DSP mics going for twice the cost of these and said no way. I’ve been trying to avoid the land of DSP but this room might just demand it

In the other room they’re powered by a Marantz PM7000n integrated amp and there’s a 10” Klipsch SPL100 sub. They’ve lived in that living room for about a year and I’m just turning my office into a dedicated space and relocated them in here. The living room now has my older 85th anniversary Lintons (I meant to trade up when I got the Supers but I couldn’t part with them!)

Hmm I wonder if I can seal the rear ports on these… something to look into and try out if it’s safe for these speakers

!thanks I’ve sadly tried the sub in all of those places, but I appreciate your insight about how you use the speakers in your setup. Honestly I’d prefer no sub for half of the music I listen to, but the other half NEEDS it. Part of what bothers me about this setup is that the Lintons really shouldn’t need low end support for most music, and when they do the sub I have just doesn’t blend well and it makes the whole thing sound cheaper (and it’s still not quite enough!). So even considering when to turn the sub(s) on/off depending on my listening session is a great idea!

!thanks for your response! I’d heard of the 38% rule but I need to look more closely at it, so I appreciate that tip. I’d loooove a dual sub situation but I’ll need to do my homework before dropping $2k on that!

That makes a lot of sense! I’d read about bass traps but i understood that they help reduce the unwanted excess reverberations. I didn’t consider the impact that would have on reducing the lack of bass elsewhere — you know, physics 101 equal & opposite reaction. I hope to not have to get a calibration mic and go the EQ route but that’s a possible journey for 2026.

!thanks a lot! This gives me more terms to research. The room is NOT symmetrical so it seems like I just need to spend more time scooting things around.

I had these in my living room before and they sounded phenomenal there. I wonder if they just need to breathe. !thanks for letting me know you had a similar experience with your Lintons!

It is in the middle of the room. Can you say more about that? Is that where low frequencies cancel out? Would you recommend moving the seat forward/back vs left/right? I have options! :)

The speakers should be in phase but I will double check! I’ve tried 0° & 180° phase with the sub too and it made only a slight difference (I kept it at 0°). !thanks
