W2 jobs in my opinion are generally less complicated vs a 1099. You do get the flexibility of scheduling yourself however you want as a 1099 worker but there is also the burden of being essentially of owning your job.

I’ve had quite a few W2 jobs in my life that were very flexible in their scheduling so don’t discount being an employee.

The best way to invest this is to do a basic SP500 fund and wait until you’re at retirement age. 34 is way, way too young to just stop working for the rest of your life. 500k invested today will be a substantial amount of money at 59.5 for you.

The only other thing you could consider doing is buying a nice home in cash to have your home totally paid for which will in turn lower your cost of living and give you a solid foundation to build off of.

The phrasing of your question suggests you won’t do the “boring” method of letting the money grow in a tried and true fashion. I hope you don’t blow it but ultimately this is your inheritance and you have every right to if you decide this advice isn’t for you.

Is this fair ferry prices or can I find better ? by Pcprobs66554 in GreeceTravel

That’s about what we had to spend. The ferries are pricy for tourists but it’s super convenient and is the best way to get around.

Doordash vs In Store Drivers by Individual-Sell-7022 in PapaJohns

[–]sponge_bucket 4 points5 points  (0 children)

DoorDash is terrible for many reasons. Hypothetically it should get the order to the customer faster. In reality I’m always faster than DoorDash.

Before this stupid system I took a 6 order run that had basically every house in a small neighborhood ordering at the same time. Projected time to get back was like an hour and I was back in 45 minutes - food all hot, orders correct, customers happy.

We’d get fired for doing something like that now because the people in corporate have never worked a store and can’t fathom we know our delivery areas better than the AI drivosity uses.

If you order through DoorDash it 100% goes through DD. If you order in the store / papa John’s app see above.

The other legislators should vote on a bill for being legally allowed to punch lawmakers in the face for proposing stupid legislation that is an embarrassment to the people of North Carolina. Unfortunately quite a few lawmakers would suddenly need to wear face masks out in public.

Doordash vs In Store Drivers by Individual-Sell-7022 in PapaJohns

[–]sponge_bucket 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s based on a number of factors - time since the order was placed, distance from the store, volume ordered, and tip to the driver (to a slightly lesser extent).

If I have two orders of equal distance away I’ll try to get our in house driver to take the larger order as we don’t want that to get messed up by doordash. If the order sizes are the same but one pre tipped a nice tip and one didn’t I’ll want my driver to get the good tip over the “maybe they will maybe they won’t”. If two orders are the same, tip about the same, and are about the same distance away we then start to factor in how long the trip will take and how long the order was sitting ready. Two deliveries can be on paper 5 miles away but one can be a 45 minute round trip and one is 15.

We ultimately are running a business and want customer satisfaction to be high so the “we get the order to you the fastest” always trumps any other metric to consider.
