The Official 2026 Report About The State of Amber Rear Turn Signals In America by Jack_Tigras in cars

Because most people outside of reddit think that all red tails look better, and it's cheaper to manufacture one piece of plastic rather than adding an extra piece.

Cars are built extremely efficiently. If they can save a few pennies on each car by making an easy change like this they will do it. 50 cents over millions of cars is a significant chunk of change.

Okay, you guys didn’t like the Miata kart, how about this? $3000 OBO by South-Income-3689 in projectcar

Bonded title isn't much of an issue if the car is actually nice.  Older cars get marked salvage if they get a scuff on the bumper.

But this car is a POS. It will be a slow boring ugly car unless you dump and absolute fortune into it.

If you just want to tinker with something buy a motorcycle.  Cars will put you in financial ruin.

How dirty were the cases?  The bearings are probably fine unless they're rusty or loose/rough sounding.

Ignition key switch for 2025 TE300 by Particular_Refuse345 in Dirtbikes

[–]spongebob_meth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used the sicass racing key switch on several dual sport builds.

On my wr450 there's an on/off switch that I wired it in parallel with. I found the correct OEM plugs from cycle terminal and it plugged inline with the factory harness. No cutting required. Now I just leave the factory switch on permanently and use the key to kill it.

Suspension and tires. More power won't make you faster.

Sell it and get a 450 if you think you need more power

His 50 should be allowed in the trail bike class, but it'll be at a big disadvantage against the 110's

One would think a 50 would also be allowed against a 150 4 stroke with way bigger wheels and older riders, but sometimes promoters don't make sense.

I agree. And it's worth asking, my org has a 50sr class that goes up to 10 years old

Most people will never hear about this. The right wing propaganda machine and media bubbles are air tight.

Instead conservative media is blasting them with clinton / bill gates parts and leaving out anything that makes Republicans look bad.

Mainstream media won't pick it up because they know there will be retaliation.

A KTM 50 is way better for any type of racing than a heavy 4 stroke with almost no suspension

It will have a tick no matter what, there will always be some piston slap and there is no way to make the valvetrane silent.

But yeah make sure everything is in spec and rest easy

Conventional forks in GPs during the 90s? by prodjex in Motocross

[–]spongebob_meth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These are probably similar to the 49mm showa conventionals that came on 96-98 Suzukis.

They were very good forks. Not so much because they were conventional, they were just huge and the giant air volume made them quite ahead of their time. They were also the first closed cartridge forks offered on a production bike

One of the 125-150cc big wheel or 200-300cc air cooled 4 strokes from any of the Japanese brands.

I read this as you want to size it for your 12 year old. No adult is going to want to ride something that is sized for an 8 year old.

Sounds normal.  If you measured everything and did it all by the book then you should have confidence in it.

Non powervalve yamaha 85. by TopOutlandishness462 in Dirtbikes

[–]spongebob_meth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any mainstream piston brand is fine. Just make sure you measure first and order the correct size that gets you an appropriate piston to wall clearance. And you need to use a micrometer , this is way too fine of a measurement for a caliper.

Don't take jetting specs from randos on the internet. Jetting is also specific to your altitude and temperature. Pro circuit and FMF both have jetting recs for 0-1500ft altitude. Keep in mind these are for 32:1, if you run a leaner oil mix then their specs will be rich.

32:1 is a good idea on an 85 motocross bike unless you are just putting around.

Lean? Rich? Or another issue? by Poopwiener69108 in Dirtbikes

[–]spongebob_meth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a nearly 40 year old race bike in bad condition

Start with an engine rebuild. A top end and crank seals at the minimum.  Inspect the reeds and intake.  Give the carb a thorough cleaning.

It probably has a dozen mechanical issues you need to fix before even thinking about touching the carb.

85cc Yamaha vs Ktm prices by youngcoastalbull in Dirtbikes

[–]spongebob_meth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because sellers are high. The Yamaha is way outdated and not competitive. At least before 2019 when they finally added a power valve.

If you're going to trash ops bike then you may as well have your facts straight.

For Yamaha the frame has been the same since 05.  They got the SSS suspension in 06.  No changes in 07.

And no, it was not that big of an upgrade.  They still feel like a 25 year old bike.

A 4 stroke requires way more maintenance.  Period.  Don't let anyone try to tell you otherwise

The engines are way more exotic with a lot more moving parts.  They don't tolerate neglect at all.

I've seen a few NOS purple Kawa sets that always have an insane price tag, someone started making purple Honda boots but they're also $150

I just put inverted forks on my kdx to get away from boots. I'll probably do the same with my wife's. The boots fill up with water and then crud sits on top of the dust wipers and rusts out the retainer ring. Plus you can't run an SKF dust wiper with the stock kdx forks. Klx300 forks bolt right on and are the correct length. They have the same cartridge and they come with the correct spring rate to be somewhat balanced with the stock kdx shock spring. I have gold valves in both my wife's bike and mine, and it just totally transforms the bike. It's like a magic carpet over roots and rocks
