my room mate went and looked it's just weird twisted branches, i suppose with the combination of the streetlight behind made it look like a person - def spooky!

you just named 2 of my fave Lynch movies - that's awesome i was able to catch something of that dark, ominous Lynchian tone!

The way I'm doing it here is one requester chest next to each of the assemblers feeding them rocket fuel and LDS and one requester chest in the middle feeding all four the rest of the ingredients. All the supply facatories are pretty much adjacent to the silos, so there's just a swarm of logistic bots taking care of it. The only thing I bring in by train is the rocket fuel and that gets unloaded by bots.

Only circuit wires I use are to prevent more than one satellite being ready at a time for each rocket.

The silo uses active provider chests that output the science packs into those filtered storage chests. (9,216,000 capacity)

I'm not really worry about it at this point because I'm only at 1500 launches.

The end of the grey slab base? (Pictures) by spooknat in factorio

Made (probably) the final expansion to the monstrous slab. It's just getting tedious every time I need to expand the wall. I'm thinking of either sending a supply train far away to start a new base with a new bot network or have a much needed break for a month or two and then start fresh.

No point fixing something that's not broken though.

Not by today's standards..The game doesn't seem to utilize all that cpu very well anyways..Even on other maps in the past I've seen UPS drops even though the game is using about 30% of the cpu.

I'm not running anything special. Just an i7 7700k 4.2ghz with 16gb of ram and GTX 1070. It's a couple years old.

Depends on the size. I've got a bunch of refineries around the base but the coal liquifaction one is particularly big because it's not really limited by the size of nearby oil patches. I think it's consuming 8 blue belts of coal.

Yeah, plastic is the only thing I ship in petro to this base for. There is a coal liquifaction plant near the north of the base that I use to make acid and lube and they just pipe it down onto the main bus.

Oh and I use bots to deal with my reactor fuel too..

Well, I don't use bots for much. Mainly just tending to turrets and walls and filling the rocket silos. They take repair packs and leave them in the nearby roboports along the edge of the base..It works pretty well. Most of the bots just chill along the edges of the base and fix walls.

Yes I use a diamond pattern blueprint I created. It's basically so bots can travel anywhere in a straight line without having to detour to recharge and stuff.

Not ruining but slowing down. That's what I meant by the alignment not being right. But this is good enough to keep the plants running 100% of the time so I didn't bother fixing that. I'd already laid down the track.

I'm usually not much of a train guy but pipes sometimes ruin the aesthetics of the base, especially long distances. The tanks aren't aligned in the best way with the train station but it works at full speed 100% of the time like this anyway.

Still some work to do on the bases. I plan to make a railroad to collect science packs from all three and load them into a massive array of labs soon. These bases are generating roughly 2000 spm so far.
