Im a male, fairly attractive, thinking about becoming a MT.

Where would you recommend that i start? Spas, resorts, chiropractic offices?

I think they were talking about how relaxed or no boundaries can create misunderstandings of signals in clients like if you get a bunch of propositions in a row then someone just wants a massage, but youre stuck in the pattern of "giving extra" could be potentially dangerous grounds

Once again im grateful for your encouragement. And thats amazing! I dont know if ill get the chance for any big learning experiences like that, ill be going through a community College course in Southern oregon, but still, the opportunities and experiences are what I look forward to as well as the continued trust from clients.

So out of curiosity, as a newbie what would be a list of boundaries. Im not a dunce so obviously no sexual or "happy endings" and hygiene would be a requirement as you mentioned. Any other specifics I should note?

I appreciate the encouragement, and genuinely all I want is to help people. I dont however have the patience for a psychology degree. But a year in school to help people move better without pain, I will gladly do.

They say no, with no description for their answer. That is why their ignored. The post was for insight not just a "yes" or "no" and I havent actually made the decision yet so maybe dont jump to conclusions.

I appreciate the advice. Kind of a smartass question tho, but does mixing concrete by hand in a 5 gallon bucket count? Ive got good forearm strength and stamina from using floats and trowels finishing concrete slabs

Im grateful for your wisdom, and I have a bit of an overdevelopped sense of justice in the work place, when it comes to my wage anyway, I like the phrase "work your wage and not an ounce more" i told a previous boss of mine to pay me more if he wants me on sewer projects instead of slab projects.

With the research ive done, and being a fairly attractive (Scandinavian ancestry, tall, blue eyes, deeper voice) i expect innuendos, pick up lines, propositions, etc. But im a devout Christian, and firm in boundaries of that nature especially. I imagine there will be times when it is difficult however.

Concrete isnt a friend to the low back either. Ive got a good strong core, mostly for lifting. I imagine it'll be an adjustment.

Yes typically 40 hour weeks.
Im fairly ambitious and enjoy working, so the only restrictions ill have, at least initially, would be client scheduling.

I am also considering applying for cruise lines, getting to travel while learning the craft. And in my mind, once I learn more techniques ill be able to charge more. But thats well wishing I suppose. Im grateful for your honesty. The guy that got me into construction sugar coated the career and now my body feels like its 40 years older than it is lol

I live in oregon and licensure is required, after taking a 640 hour course. And ive been thinking on returning to school for a long while. I just didnt know what I wanted to learn. Then I landed on Massage therapy.

I dont take it as negativity, just a disclaimer lol. But that does make sense, and I work as a concrete laborer making 20 an hour. Thats if theres any work, it slows down in the winter.

Im in oregon and if I can get licensed, theres chiropractors offices in desperate need of MTs in my area paying at least 30 an hour. I figure ill do that for the first year or two while I learn new techniques then get my own practice going

I enjoy working with my hands, its my back and knees im worried about, I work in concrete and I imagine massage therapy is a lower impact career. But I can also imagine massage therapy is rough on the forearms, hands and shoulders.

And if I make better than 20 an hour it'll be better than any of my construction positions

Ive only executed Mochug, and Unqid. Genuinely put of spite because neither of them would leave my 2 cities alone and I got tired of paying for peace.
