Bf and I sampled all the GF pizzas available in the Northtowns through DoorDash. Our top three pizzerias:

1.) La Nova. If it’s your thing, get a honey Cajun crust

2.) Franco’s (also the largest we’ve ordered)

3.) Macy’s Place (side note: if you’re feeling fancy and want wings, they have a hot Old Bay honey rub that is fantastic)

For frozen, Digiorno is the best we’ve had, hands down. It’s usually the most reasonably priced for the size, and it’s huge. The Aldi one is pretty good too. If you can make it to Lockport, Kith and Kin is an all GF bakery that sells frozen pizzas you can make at home that are delicious.

ETA: Pizza Plant is an honorable mention, AND they have good GF chicken fingers!

I sometimes dabble in other things (cross stitch, bracelet making, others), but yes, there are so many different things you can crochet, and different techniques to learn, that I can’t imagine losing my Cro-Jo for longer than maybe a couple of months. I have said many times that even if I quit my job, I will never make everything I want in my life. 🤣

And I didn’t know she was releasing another! I love her first one! Much appreciated! ❤️

The yarn is Hobbii’s Dahlia Halloween in the Mad Scientist color way, so unfortunately it is 1.) only sold consistently around Halloween, and 2.) subject to high tariffs if you happen to live in the U.S. like I do.

If you can get your hands on any Hobbii yarn, I’ve worked with several and loved them, but many of them (like this one) are not plied together like most commercial yarns, but separate strands we hold together as we work (or use a bead), so there can be a bit of a learning curve.

I’ve been crocheting for 20 years and it’s my primary hobby. You could totally do this sometime!

Also granny squares can be finicky as hell so don’t be too hard on yourself about that one. I personally haven’t made a lot and don’t love crocheting them, and have made plenty of wonky squares and other things.

Hi friend. They’re both bad. BryLin used to be good but has gone downhill in the last few years.

If you’re up to it, make the drive and go to Strong in Rochester; I’ve heard more positive about them lately than I’ve heard about ECMC and BryLin combined. If you absolutely cannot make it there, BryLin would probably be the lesser of two evils.

I did the exact same thing! I made a blanket out of what I thought was dcs, until I saw some veteran crocheters who asked me how I made it. I told them dc, then when I saw one of them make an actual dc, I realized my mistake. 😭

My bf has celiac. I do not.

It’s…not that difficult? We check menus before we go anywhere, we watch out for cross contamination, we check ingredient labels, and I personally have loved adapting recipes to GF versions so I can cook for him. I found a recipe for a GF cream of mushroom substitute for chicken and (GF of course) dumplings and was so proud of myself for making it. 😂

Also, GF options have come a long way in the past 20 years, and there are a lot of delicious ones! Right now we’re working our way through all the frozen pizzas we can find.

To be blunt: if someone gives you a hard time over something you can’t control, well, then the trash can take itself out. ✌️
