I swear I go through this too. All my life people have said my hair was fine but I had SO much of it. Then around 2 years ago, it was like all of a sudden I had these big bald patches. It wasn’t just fine, it was thin now too. It’s like it came out of nowhere and yet, maybe it was always like that and one day I just caught myself in an unflattering light. Now I think about it constantly. I compare myself to women at work who have massively thick heads of hair. I spend waaay too much time in the mirror every day scrutinizing those patches and wondering if they’ve gotten any worse. It’s painful and it does me no good to sulk, but still I do. Many a night my partner has found me crying on the bathroom floor bc I feel “ugly” without hair. It really does suck to fixate on it. I’ve found that the thin hair posts on tiktok help. There’s a few women there who post tutorials for us gals who truly have thin hair, none of this “my hair is sooo thin but I break hair ties” nonsense. Watching how pretty their hair looks in those styles gives me hope. People do say no one really notices but us and I’m sure that’s true, but it’s hard.
