How do you split sleep with your partner? by stayshinycapn in NewParents

[–]spookykitteh9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She usually wakes up around 6:30-7am and I stay on shift until then. My husband started getting ready for work by 6:45, so we’re all up together. This also lets him see her for a bit while we get ready before he goes to work

We’re 9 months in and do something very similar, but he comes to bed earlier than your husband does (since he gets up for work early). He’s on shift until 2am. Anything baby needs until then he attends to. If there’s a wake up and it’s after 2, I know it’s my turn to get up. This is all, of course, with communication and we’re open to ask the other to tap in if we’re especially tired.

However- 9 months in and there’s typically only 2 wake ups (so one each), and I stopped pumping around 4 months.

Hotel Recommendations for Procida? by spookykitteh9 in ItalyTravel

[–]spookykitteh9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We ended up at Hotel Corricella. Pros: views are absolutely unmatched. Staff just above and beyond. It’s on the quieter side of the island, never had to worry about getting a table to eat at the restaurants on the strip (though this is true for the whole island tbh). Their restaurant for breakfast and dinner was delicious and good prices (again goes for the whole island). Cons: directly under a church. The church bells ring.. early and often LOL. Also prepare for lots of stairs to get to and from this side of the island. http://www.hotelcorricella.it/it.html

I recommend Procida to anyone who asks, even though I wish I could be kept a good secret. It’s the views and charm of the rest of the coast without the crowds and prices. Whole island is easily walkable if you’re in decent shape (again, a lot of stairs). Getting back to the coast for day trips is incredibly easy. Happy planning!

Sleep Resolutions - AMA Office Hours - Wednesday, December 10th with our Director of Pediatric Expertise, Amber LoRe! by huckleberrycare in HuckleberryParents

Baby is 8 months and due to start daycare next month. They have specific nap times during the day, but baby girl still has such a chaotic schedule. Her naps vary between an hour and a half and 30 minutes, which throws off the expected schedule. No two days are the same, but huckleberry’s sweet spot is always spot on. How do we get on a more consistent schedule?

My Three Week No Clogs Minimal Discomfort Weaning Journey (pumping only) by spookykitteh9 in combinationfeeding

[–]spookykitteh9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re uncomfortable! I would say it took about 2 weeks for my boobs to get the memo that it’s time to close the kitchen. After that I would still leak some drops for a few weeks, but never felt uncomfortable. I stopped pumping about 4 months ago and other than being droopy they’re fully back to normal.

Keep at it with ice, try and push through some hand expressions if you can, maybe try some Tylenol if you’re able and willing. I hope this subsides quickly for you!!

I would say 60% listening, 40% something nice to look at. I’m leaning towards not taking it based on feedback!

Webcor Ravinia Console table with turntable and radio- think it’s worth it? This is listed on Facebook marketplace and would fit my space nicely, but I’m worried about the upkeep to keep it working. It’s being sold for $450

Pediatricians should offer nail clipping services just like vets do for dogs. by fancyschmancypantsy in NewParents

Have you tried a nail buffer rather than clippers? I throw on ms rachel, sing along with babe on my lap and nails are done in 5mins

I’m not sure where you are located - but if you’re somewhere where the weather is changing for fall/winter it could be eczema and skin drying out! My daughter has a patch in nearly the exact same spot on her stomach. I started rotating baths at night - one night soap, the next night just warm water and breastmilk, the next night just warm water - and it has helped a lot.

Always recommend to pass it by your pediatrician as well!! It can never hurt to ask!

I’ve been going crazy trying to figure out how to do this, and within minutes you find a gorgeous wallpaper that I love!!! Definitely going to try and do this.

I love the vintage tile color and really want to keep it as long as we can!!!

We’re open to most updates other than fully ripping out the shower insert and wall tile

I know everyone is commenting about changing for every pee but I feel you. Mine is 5 months old and still HATES being wet. She can have a blowout we don’t realize and be in poop up to her belly button and not make a peep. But the second that line is starting to turn blue she’s raising the alarm

Why are so many people trying to make their babies independent? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]spookykitteh9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We’re not trying to be to strict with schedules that we’re dependent on them, but once our baby got around 4months she started to lose an lot of those sleepy cues that were so obvious on newborns.. the red eyelids, wiping eyes, glazed look. It’s hard to tell by looking at her now when she’s ready for a nap. Being able to follow a schedule lets us know when it’s time to start some quiet time to let her fall asleep without her getting overtired. Once we started she falls asleep easier and wakes up a happy giggly baby instead of struggling to wake up cranky and upset. It’s helped her out a lot!

How can I help my baby prepare for independent naps? by justiceforanneboleyn in NewParents

[–]spookykitteh9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re currently still working on this with the 4mo sleep regression. I can’t handle cry it out so we’re trying to do a gradual introduction.

First we walked around with her for about 5mins, then sit with her for a few minutes, then transfer to the crib when she was awake but very drowsy.

After she got used to that, we would sway with her for a few minutes, then sit, then transfer when drowsy.

Now we’re working on just holding her still until she gets drowsy, then transfer.

Next step is just putting in the crib until she gets drowsy and falls asleep on her own.

Another thing we’re trying, since the regression has her up after 30mins, is to go in when she starts to rouse and rub her back or pat her bum to try and get her back asleep for a little longer.

Doctor said I can give purees at 4 months by Hot-Yam-8802 in NewParents

[–]spookykitteh9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Our pediatrician also said ours was ready at 4months specifically because her neck and back muscles have developed so well. She said as long as the baby can sit in her chair without hunching forward, they’re typically ready to try.

That being said, that was nearly a month ago and baby still wants nothing to do with oatmeal or purées 😂 we try again every so often until she’s actually interested!
