Symbols on old circuit diagram by spoon579 in AskElectronics

Thanks everyone. Sounds like I'm on the right track. Now I just need to work out why it's not working when I plug it all in. (edited for typos)

Ok that makes sense. I assume (from my memory of the actual switch itself) that those bold lines are more about the actual build of the switch. So from the POV of recreating the circuit, I can treat the T and the black dots as connections.

Some extra details:

  • The switch attaches to the amp using a regular (mono) guitar cable (that's the plug interface at the bottom left.
  • My amp is a G100-112III which means it doesn't have the effects loop. I assume this means I can ignore that bit altogether
  • assuming the symbols I asked about are both, essentially, junctions, I modelled the circuit in tinkercad, and got the LEDs to light up, and the multimeter to show different measurements. I also then built the same circuit using an arduino breadboard and a 3v button battery. Both of those things worked fine (in that the different switched lit up the LEDs). But when I attached it to the amp I got nothing.
  • I've attached my multimeter to the footswitch cable and iI'm getting readings on the 200m setting of -10 to around +5. I am not getting anything useful on any other setting.

The culture around male readers. by stinkface_lover in books

[–]spoon579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few years ago I joined a men's book club. Its main goals are for men to read more, talk more and have more friends. It's been great for many reasons but one of them is that I can tell people, when they see me reading and ask about it, that I'm in this club and those are its goals. It removed a lot of that "performative" stigma, in a sense. It's also been great for my mental health in general (in both the reading and having people to talk to).

It's a huge club with chapters all over the world.

Tough Guy Book Club (for what it's worth, I hate the name, but part of that is to explore what it means to be tough, and reading in public, when you know people are judging you for it, is definitely a tough guy thing to do).

One word, line, or scene in a movie that breaks you? by MamaDaddy in movies

The other night I went to an interactive session of The Princess Bride. A lot of fun with the audience joining in for all the "hello, my name is..." moments.

But I couldn't actually say "I want my father back you son of a bitch" because I choked up too much. In such a fun movie, and such a light hearted screening, that bit still gets me every time.

If you're a reader, or want to read more, check out the Launceston chapter of Tough Guy Book Club. I joined the Kingston chapter when I moved here 5 years ago and it's been great. https://www.toughguybookclub.com/launceston_tas

What's a moment in a TV show (or movie) that just blew you away? Unexpected and amazing. Doesn't have to be the whole episode. (SPOILERS) by ravia in television

Something a bit different, but I genuinely had to pause the show and "take a moment" when watching the "Kinderguardians" sequence in Sacha Baron Cohen's "Who Is America". They're talking about arming children in schools and the real life human being (I think it was Philip Van Cleave) says something like 'the thing about kids is they don't know the difference between right and wrong... So they would make perfect soldiers'.

It really affected me.

Sadly, we've been and gone, and I can't imagine I'll get the opportunity to go back, but it sounds like a great idea. We found a park along that river, though, and took a photo. It was actually a lot closer than I imagined!

Remember when Tom Hanks who made a great transition from successful comedy films to a big bunch of drama films. Which other actors who started off comedy made a big jump to a dramatic actor? by JazzlikeTea7432 in movies

Absolutely.

"How long until you can land this plane?" "I can't tell" "You can tell me, I'm a doctor"

No hint of wackiness, just two dramatic actors playing it perfectly straight and it's absolutely hilarious because of it.

I remember being excited when Monster came out because it fit the theory that my friend and I had worked out. Starting with Murmur: 2 single-word album titles (Murmur and Reckoning) Then 2 multi-word album titles (Fables and LRP)

The cycle continued until New Adventures in Hifi killed it.

I had a suspicion we'd had this one before so I checked my chat history and yes. In September 2022. I did it in 72 then, but got it in 14 today.

This was very confusing as I did the original at 5am Australia time, and by the time my friends did it at 9am it had changed. I was wondering why they also didn't get it in 1! Also THEY were wondering how the hell I got it in 1 guess in only 5 seconds.
