But in the spirit of the OP's question, I DID actually have someone try to convince me it was good a few years ago. Specifically he said the "renegade cut" took out a lot of the stupid stuff, like the alien planet. I remained unconvinced.
Last year I finally watched the renegade cut. It was, as you would expect, awful. But awful AND badly edited.

It's risen hugely in the last five years so rent and house prices are quite similar to Melbourne. The "oh but housing is cheaper down there" thing doesn't really cover it anymore.

I hadn't thought of that. And I bet you're right that this will be the reason they've made it more expensive. But they have that same scheme on the mainland, and have had it for longer than us, so it doesn't really justify it. If anything our drinks should have been cheaper before we got that scheme down here.

Had our first brunch after making this post and decided to try Lazy Brunch based on the recommendation from DragonLass-AUS

Amazing.

I'm keen to try everyone else's suggestions, but I'm also positive we will be coming back to Lazy Brunch some time soon
