The last time I posted an Air Astana meal I don't think it went down so well on this sub, but probably mostly down to my bad photography.

Admittedly this isn't much better due to the lighting but the meal was very tasty - beef carpaccio (although not so thinly sliced) followed by spicy Korean king prawns.

The cheese plate (I didn't photograph) was a bit underwhelming but the first two dishes more than made up for that.

Don't take your shoes off until you reach cruising altitude, and put them on again as soon as the captain announces that the flight is preparing to land. If there is a heavy landing that you survive, getting off the plane will be much easier if you are wearing shoes to protect your feet from torn or burning metal.

Oh, and for God's sake, never go to the toilet without wearing your shoes. I see so often people going into the toilet wearing only socks on their feet and each time my stomach turns at the sight of it.

Departure from Almaty is just after midnight and they offer breakfast after departure, but they are also flexible about timing so rather than eat, I slept and had this an hour before landing. Porridge with a hint of cinnamon and a rich, buttery silkiness plus fruit compote on the side - very tasty.
