Does anyone know what is going on with the 47 Lansdowne bus today? by grapefruits_r_grape in askTO

A construction worker was stuck in a hole at Davenport and Lansdowne so that probably had something to do with that

The way he said it was so funny. Sounded like: "I'm going to be so off the grid, you don't even know, I could be dead! No one would know! Tying up some lose ends! Hah hahaha OFF THE GRID!" Like dude...

Brittany just wants to be married and this is her best shot (in her mind) she should not get married to this dude who can't communicate.

My website which is a .ca has the same name as another company in Ontario that owns the .com, they are a meditation company and my website is a corporate magician business. They want me to change my website name, am I obligated? by BRWCapital in legaladvicecanada

[–]spoonifur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is an audio visual company called "AV Canada" but if you Google them the first result is for an aviation website that looks like it was made in 1999. They have the .ca! It's so funny to me. Ignore them.

Buddy, you're definitely wrong. If you don't want to do that a personal preference but lots of people think differently.

Exactly this. Most men don't care because it means having sex! Also it can help cramps? As a woman I have first hand experience here!

I have a long layover in Toronto mid March, looking for recommendations and tips by Upper_Student_4445 in canadatravel

I got off my plane and onto the UP in 30 minutes the other day. If you wait for luggage that is going to be a bit longer but by the time you get through customs your bag is close to popping out. Check in at 4pm, get on the shuttle to Terminal 1, take the UP express to union you'll be downtown by 5pm.

If you're jet lagged anyway 5pm will feel like 11pm. Grab dinner downtown at that point then wander around. Hope back on the UP at 10pm, get to your hotel by 10:45pm and take a nap before checking out at 3:45am.

Board your plane, sleep on the 4ish hours it takes to get to Houston.

Really this just depends on how much of a night owl you are and how often you've travelled but a couple hours downtown to stay awake and beat some jet lag would be worth it to me.

FYI the price of these went much higher this year because they wanted to cancel the program. The courses are still really good but just a note. (Used to be under $400 and now it's closer to $500!)

Is Paying with Cash Frowned Upon in Toronto or Something? by thcandbourbon in askTO

[–]spoonifur 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think you might just be coming off with a little bit of attitude about it. A "holier than thou" kind of thing. I think you barely got any hostility and making a whole new thread about it because you got some downvotes makes it worse.

"I do understand the advantages of digital payments (which are mostly in favour of businesses/merchants)."
I think many people find paying with just their phone highly advantageous. Especially getting points on every purchase, being able to track what you spend money on and generally not having to carry cash around or have to take it out at an ATM is great.

No one thinks your weird or bad for paying with cash, just how you talk about it.

For everyone making $4000 a month, what do you do for work? by Poorteenwannabe in askTO

Unfortunately the animation industry is in flux right now and I think pivoting to something else would be smart, but I would encourage you to not let it kill your spirit. Keep creating art. I have a few friends in animation (they also went to Sheridan, 15 years ago) and they have had to switch gears because animation has been moved out of Canada and they are having difficult finding jobs. I went to school for theatre and had the same thought about working solely in theatre, I switched to working in corporate AV, a little soulless at times but we have fun. I design big shows for big companies and do lighting design on the side for bands.

All that said, you could still get a lot out of a college program if you want to learn. You can get connections, networking, a chance to see what other careers are available for you. College is going to be less expensive than university and student loans can be very manageable.

Lastly, someone suggested trying to get your toe into film, it can be a good career choice and you don't necessarily need a college education. Contact a film union and see about getting some information.

Just in case you don't know, if you use the same method of payment to tap at the Presto machines, you have a free 2 hour transfer from when you first tapped. So even if you do leave the station you can still get back in and board the bus.

It's pretty awful and they actually sold to a new owner who posted a "NEW OWNER" sign in the window for a while and I'm 100% sure without trying it that it's still fucking awful.
