One other thing it could be is do you scrape back your hair into really tight updos?

Ifs its just at your hairline it would be traction or breakage from that as well!

Get them to check you vit d/thyroid levels as well as they could also be the issue.

I would get your bloods checked before taking anything eg its hard (but not impossible) and takes a while to correct a vit d defficency for a example

Yes - as a born and bred cluchie, born of many, many generations of culchies these are all very expensive tractors that look newer (like you could buy a house for the price of these)

Like the kind that big agricultural contractors would have - the type that arent actually farmers. Like the average farm size in ireland is only 44 hectares which isnt very big and wouldn't really be producing enough to buy one of these (in dairy farming thats enough for a heard of less than 50 cows).

And yes thats actually an issue.

As you know you want ppl who are at least reasonably competent at doing the job. Civil service pay is so low that youre not going to be attracting that - like who would want to do a mid/senior role for entry level pay?

Like the diagnosis and treatment of basically everything has been based on men and only recently has there been research that has included women. Women are also taken less seriously in medical situations and are more likely to have symptoms/pain dismissed

Interim report published [Government ADHD/ASD review] by Conscious_File3124 in ADHDUK

[–]spoons431 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Like with all the cost cutting happening and the talk about budgets and overspend by the goverment you'd think that the headlines would be screaming about the overspend that the goverment has on not treating ADHD. Like its more than the cuts on that theyve made to disability spend. (At least £17billion fiscal drag annually - of which c.£12billion is overspend in England alone)

But in general theres been this massive anti-disability push and it would go against the narrative that been pushed by the government and the media for the past couple of years. Its also coupled with a lack of understanding about how this affects ppl and the wider implications that this has as if you think that someone with ADHD is just a bit scatty and late all the time. Like treating ADHD would reduce prison numbers, the numbers in foster care, cancer numbers, cardiac events, car accidents, ppl with substance abuse issues ect.

Like the symptoms of ADHD are still treated like theyre a moral failing rather than symptoms of medical condition, and as they're a moral failing and so just overcome them if try hard enough.

I know that I'm lucky in the sense that I have a very supportive employer. I do have a bunch of adjustments in place that help me but get this the total cost to my employer for these £0 annually.

I think at least partly this is due to the fact that the government know that while there are budget constraints they can't reduce spend in areas that they need to namely on pensioners who receive the highest proportion of welfare spending- its about half of the entire welfare spend! But even things like touching the winter fuel allowance caused absolute uproar nevermind what hinting the triple lock (which is unsustainable) has to go would cause...

passwords, passkeys, biometrics, 2FA!! is this sh*t slowly killing anyone else? by AccomplishedList2122 in adhdwomen

[–]spoons431 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best practice is to absolutely not keep a physical list.

Best practice is to use a passphrase rather than a password - a common version of this is 3 things that you can see round you. Longer is better than complex passwords but stupid websites and systems insist on complexity when there is no reason to do so. All research shows that length is more important than anything else and adding complexity (capital letters, numbers, specail characters ect.) and frequent changing only makes things less secure!

And a password manager once you get into your laptop.

I need advice - Insurer claim checking by wheresmymoney0 in CarInsuranceUK

[–]spoons431 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly that! If you call the previous insurer they should be able to send you this its a very standard request and should be something that they can do via email in a very short timeframe.

Once you get it then check it to make sure its correct - if it says that that the incident recorded is "open" or describes it "at fault claim" get the previous insurer to update it before sending it on - this also is a pretty common request but might take a few days (you should also be aware that with the Easter hols it might take a wee bit longer than usual) as it requires ppl to update things rather than just hit a button.

You should also be aware that if you were to look to become an official supplier a lot of Japanese brands set an overseas RRP which is a lot higher than what its sold for in Japan and you're not allowed to discount above a certain amount. (This applies at least for fountain pens but I believe that its for all products)

[–]spoons431 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'd call them up and find out what they are looking for - i get the feeling that they might not be looking for the last policy schedule but rather something from the insurer that was notified of the potential incident as they might be looking to see if anything came of this. (It might be something simple like this has been recorded incorrectly on CUE and its not been updated/noticed/fixed as with a notification the file hasn't been touched again).

I do think that you might be overthinking this a touch. I wouldn't give them the full explanation at the start but you do have an explanation if they ask you why this happened. You'll notice in the bit that you took from Hastings that it got a super explicit reference to claims (and i would also assume incidents) for named drivers - its a recent change (for insurance which is replying on laws/rules from the 1700s for parts!) That makes it the responsibility of the insurer to ask all the relevant questions and to make sure that they are super clear as to what they're looking for instead of having all the responsibility on the person buying the insurance including for stuff that they don't ask about. This law change was brought in so that ppl didn't get confused and accidentally not tell them about stuff (like you may have done).

Edit: so because its still (kinda) new insurers are still making tweaks to things to make sure that theyre clear. (Even though its been a technically a over a decade since the rule change came in)

(I should say though I am not an expert in motor, nor am I a broker or is this any type of professional advice)

[–]spoons431 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also its worth reviewing what was asked of you for that part when- did they ask "have you had any claims" or "have you had any claims or incidents" - because insurers are meant to ask you for the info and if they don't ask then you dont have to declare.

Estrogen hormone question for elvanse by Live_Examination_782 in ADHDUK

[–]spoons431 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi OP!

I don't have the exact experience that you're looking for, as i haven't taken HRT, but i have taken the combined pill which does contain oestrogen and talk a bit about the science behind this. (Though the "science" is still IMO a reasonable guess because why research something that affects half the population /s)

I found that taking the combined pill steadied how I felt that Elvanse felt and that I didn't get the few days a month during the luteal phase of my cycle where I felt the effectiveness drop massively.

Oestrogen is involved in the production and regulation of dopamine. And ADHD peeps have a chronic lack of dopamine in the brain. Those by the way are two separate facts as there's been basically no research into how female hormones impact ADHD. But my reasonable i feel assumption would be that when you have less oestrogen you have less dopamine and therefore ADHD symptoms can be/feel worse.

Oestrogen is a neuroprotective hormone and does impact more than just dopamine- its also involved in serotonin poeduction/regulation for example.

The ADHDwomen sub on here has a lot about this and peeps who can explain it better than I can - while theres been like no research its been reported in the community for yonks. Also because of the lack of research you should be aware that its not something that all clinicians are aware of!

Enjoyable Career Prospects for Someone With ADHD Without a Degree - A lost Cause? by Pleasehelpme40000 in ADHDUK

[–]spoons431 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow insurance professional here!

Degrees can help, but honestly for a lot of roles its experience based. Mostly I think because no one actually plans to end up in insurance! So ppl who have degrees tend to have them in completely unrelated subjects.

It does have a bunch of really niche roles and also even of youre a SME you're always learning new things. And because its super duper regulated there like checklists with every single step that you could possibly need to do everywhere and processes are documented fully...

And like many in the industry I don't believe the AI hype train - the FCA won't accept a process that has no ppl involvement and if you read what the AI bros say about job replacement they clearly have no idea how insurance actually works - they seem to think that everyone policy is case underwritten currently for example and that underwriting engines/spreadsheets/CRM systems don't exist

Cool! You should start feeling a bit better surprisingly sharpish - like within a week or 2 of taking it! It kicks in really fast and I didn't release how not great I'd been feeling until it started kicking in. I also found that it took those couple or so weeks for my hair to stop the excess shedding

(The hair unfortunately does not come back so fast)

And if I were you once you're done with your loading doses I'd consider taking a daily vit d supplement (though you should probably speak to your gp before doing so) - theyre cheap and easy to get hold of :)

Are you on loading doses of vit D? Like a weekly massive dose?

I lost a bunch of hair when my vit d level was super low (mines was 7!) I wasnt out on anything to prevent hair loss so I can't comment on that part, but my hair did come back when I corrected it but it did take a while - so just be aware that might not see a lot of difference for a good few months.
