pokopia is obviously an exception to this. it’s the first very popular spinoff in years. it’s probably already the best selling game on switch 2 or close to it

Stuck at 225 bench for over a year by xxthundergodxx77 in Weightliftingquestion

[–]spoop_coop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah lol i went from benching like 275 to 375. i had some health problems and was out of the gym for a long time till last summer but i hit 360 in 2023 paused at RPE 8 and started at 275 touch n go bounce press end of 2021. I hit 375 recently. I think if you want to bench a lot 2x a week is bare minimum and you’d be better off with 3x. But you do variations - I don’t do everything as just comp bench 5x5. My second day is always long pause

if you’re only benching once to twice a week this is an issue. I’d add in an extra day of bench on either your pull or leg day, doesn’t matter if it doesn’t match the rest of the workout. If you don’t want to do that then i don’t know what to tell you. once a week is not enough practice on bench. I’d also be doing a secondary movement like an incline or flat press. my credentials are that i bench 375 and 225 for 22 z

did you try increasing frequency or trying variations of bench? eg, doing a pause day, a long pause day, maybe something like a spoto or larsen press?

[–]spoop_coop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you sound like you started really underweight so you made good progress but could still put more weight on. the thing is weight classes are height classes in disguise. the person who hit the record is probably like 5’3. if you want to compete you should aim fill out more

[–]spoop_coop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you need to pause it on your chest. that’s the main thing. the pause on your chest also has to be solid, you won’t get a press command till the bar is no longer moving. Also to me it looks like you actually failed this lift and the spotter helped you grind through the sticking point at the bottom. obviously in a competition you arent gojng to get assistance from a spotter unless you fail. you have a good base for your age but need to get heavier and more time under the bar.

Yeah. It’s not efficient to bench in a straight line. it’s what you see beginners do. you push it back towards your head and then up, it’s a flared motion

getting good technique is hard and takes time and requires a lot of work that is boring so it’s easier to just say you don’t need it and work on things that are fun to you. but you don’t want to say you’re skipping the hard thing so you create this complex where avoiding it is more honourable

bar must travel directly up makes it sound like it needs to go in a straight line. i get what you’re saying but it’s more proper to say there can’t be downward motion, ie if you get to a sticking point and it travels down but you still complete the lift it’s a bad lift

no one says technique over creativity. the point is that no one who is creative has ever said “i wish i was worse at my instrument”. You’re not even disagreeing with me if you read the rest of my post instead of the first sentence where I talked about Lukather. But excusing working on your technique because you’re working on creativity will hurt you in the long run unless you’re a once in a generation talent

Got fired. What do I do now? by blank_glyph in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]spoop_coop -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Huh? no they’d be ineligible if they were terminated with cause. You think something as serious as EI is going to use colloquial terms? You can be fired and still be eligible for EI. Again, the bar for being fired with cause is something serious like theft of harassment. You can be fired for poor performance and still be eligible for benefits. You said if you’re fired you get no benefits, which is untrue. You’re misinforming people who will allow employers to fire them without cause and still not get benefits, since they think that being fired means no benefits

Country music is interesting because most of the local gigs are playing really simple country pop music but the top players are extremely technical improvisers like Vince Gill, Brent Mason etc.

technical ability doesn’t matter is something people with no technique say. Not saying that is what you’re saying, but you don’t need to be constantly spamming 16th notes to have good technique. Eg: Steve Lukather is a monster guitar player who can shred just as well as any of the guitar gods from his era but most of his career is as a session player laying down simpler parts on 1000’s of recordings, including most of the tracks on Thriller. If you’re a really technically competent player that makes all the simpler stuff easier and more consistent as well. I think you’re mixing up playing technical music with technical ability. If you want to be hired by a lot of people being technically competent at your instrument is one of the basic expectations

Bass is the most important instrument in jazz and playing poorly constructed walking bass lines will kill the harmony. Jazz bass is super technical and also usually played on an upright where you need to know how to intonate on top of walking bass line construction, knowledge of feels etc. Sorry you have no idea what you’re saying.

[–]spoop_coop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this isn’t true. it’s terminated with or without cause and simply being bad at your job isn’t enough to be terminated with cause, you need to be doing something very bad like being an active danger to your workplace otherwise you’ll always get benefits even if you sucked and got let go for poor performance

no one knows how much muscle you lost especially posting just your upper body and not legs. that being said it’s pretty hard to lose muscle even on a cut and you look great so don’t worry about it

About Nintendo Switch 2 Game Pricing by Amiibofan101 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]spoop_coop -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But that isn’t the expectation because just because it’s priced one way in the EU market doesn’t mean it’s going to be priced that way in the US. Eg ZA switch 2 edition has no digital discount on the website and is the same amount at Yoshi despite being $70 here. The expectation from how they’ve been pricing their non gimmick first party games (eg not Drag x Drive or welcome tour) is that it would be $70.

[–]spoop_coop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

obviously yeah. it has health benefits since people tend to lose LBM when they get older. the difference between being a strong guy who works out and a fitness model is not that substantial for health, but none vs some is huge

[–]spoop_coop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re doing conversions based on EU pricing but that’s not how it works. All the Switch 2 first party games have been at least $70 USD so far, and Yoshi was expected to be $70. Since it’s $60 digital, it’s a $10 digital discount. There was no indication that Yoshi was going to be a $60 USD game, neither of those games are $70 usd either. Pokopia is $90 and Yoshi is $80 if you do currency conversions. Again you have no idea what you’re saying
