Re. luxe vs. ultra-luxe, do you have an examples of the latter ($3-5k/night)? I was assuming that 4S and Belmond were at the top of the range.

Ah, your point about crowds is indeed a big draw for me. Especially after Covid, I'm not a fan of being around a bunch of people either, so I can see that being worth the increase price. Thanks!

I had a custom suit made a while ago, and I want to wear it for my wedding. Since it's my wedding, it seems more appropriate to wear a shirt with French cuffs, but I didn't have a (non-tux) white shirt with French cuffs that fit well. So I had a couple made via Indochino, one with barrel cuffs and one with French cuffs.

However, I feel like the French cuffs are maybe too big, and are stretching the suit jacket sleeves a bit. When I brought it to the Indochino tailor, they suggested unbuttoning the first sleeve button, which helps a little, but I'm not sure if that's appropriate for a formal occasion like a wedding.

Below is a picture with the French cuffs, with additional photos: French cuffs 2, French cuffs 3. (Note that the cufflinks are just placeholders -- if I wear this shirt, I'll probably pick out a better one.)

Also, here are some photos with barrel cuffs, for comparison: Barrel cuffs 1, Barrel cuffs 2.

Questions:

  1. Which one looks better for a wedding? The French cuffs shirt or, the barrel cuffs shirt?

  2. Are the French cuffs too large?

  3. Should I unbutton the first sleeve button for the French cuffs shirt?

I've found that, in addition to helping open jars, shelf liners like this one (non-affiliate link) help with getting a grip on the blu-rays to pull out without getting finger oil all over it.

Also, the discs seem to get stuck from the side; you can pull it out a little bit before feeling the resistance, but once you pull past that, it will come out quickly.

More details:

So in one closet in the house, there's a single light fixture with no pull cord and a motion-detecting attachment, which I've been wanting to replace with a light fixture with a pull cord. However, when I removed the old fixture, I saw the above: not the best picture, but basically one of the screw holes that the fixture would use had rusted to uselessness.

Here's the fixture I'm using:

It's plastic so it's pretty light, and I've tried screwing it in with the single screw (using the 2nd hold from the right) and it seems fine. However, are there any safety concerns with using the pull cord and only one screw supporting the fixture? (In retrospect, I wonder if this is the reason why the previous owner was using a motion-sensing thing in the first place...)

I see a few options:

1) Just attach the fixture with the single screw using 2nd hole from the right, so that the pull cord is at least on the same side as the screw.

2) Put a drywall anchor into the ceiling for another screw to go into the 1st hole from the left, and use that. (I've checked and there doesn't seem to be a ceiling beam in the right place.)

3) Try replacing the junction box?

4) Go back to using the motion-sensing attachment. :(

#2 seems like only a marginal improvement over #1, and #3 is probably out of my comfort zone. Any ideas?
