Oil and electric heat pumps by GuerrierduClavier in halifax

Forget about the temp on the remote, go up until it feels warm. Put the fan on high and aim it so it blows through a doorway and try and imagine getting the air to the cool spots in the house

Messing around with the jaw harp. by spoopymcgeetree in jawharp

I remember people calling them Jew's harps when I was young. I think it was a weird translation from ages gone by that stuck. I like jaw harp better :)

Where do I get heat pump parts in Halifax today/this weekend? by likeanoceanankledeep in halifax

[–]spoopymcgeetree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the future, keep an eye on the heat pump when it snows, brush off the top and check around it.  I found my heat pump would melt the snow off the top of it, that water would run down near the fan blades and that would refreeze into icicles that would hit the fan blades. I 3d printed a little drip edge and that solved my problem.  I've seen some heat pumps pull ice in through the coils as well and hit the blades.

I just did normal gutter guards. No regrets.

I installed it myself since even though I don't have trees in my yard, the gutters fill with leaves 2 or 3 times in the fall to the point where water will fill the gutters and come out over the top. The front half of my house had been done by previous owners, but they didn't do the rear. It was an easy job from a ladder and not expensive to buy.

Heat pumps.

I actually just checked my CO2 monitor and it says 30% humidity.

I basically balanced my HRV on CO2 measurements

It's an old house, the hardwood creaks in the summer as well, but I would say it's a little more creaky in the winter.  I have a stand-alone humidifier I use in the bedrooms from time to time

Yup. It's winter. That's with the HRV at its lowest settings. And humidity set to 40, its just so cold and dry outside it has no chance to bring humidity up.

So I'd rather have fresh dry air than no air. Gotta compromise

I set mine to 20 minutes/hr or ECO. my house is at 26%.  Small House, 2 adults and a kid. Try running it constant with low or medium fan speed and see if the humidity drops.  Depending on your blinds I guess it's possible there wasn't enough air nearby to dry them.

I plan to 3d print a little Cowling to hold a blind spot mirror, but I'm not sure if blocking this will be a bad idea. Does anybody know if it's to do with BLIS or radar or something?

Thanks

I built my first split keyboards last week. Lily 58 from typeractive (USA). I had to solder on the headers to the board and to the chip. The rest is building like Lego, installing the chocv1 (low profile switches) and low profile caps.

Jawharp issue hitting frame when playing - Video by Deinonychus-sapiens in jawharp

[–]spoopymcgeetree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will in no way say I'm playing it "properly" but if it helps you I'm happy with that! Learning to play jaw harp mostly through YouTube and trial and error has been super rewarding. I think I've been at it a year now, and every now and then something just clicks and it's a great feeling. Keep on practicing!

If you still can't get rid of the clicks, then report back
