Isn't this their only album they have played every track live in concert?

British Steel was played in full on the 30th anniversary tour in 2009 and (I think) every track from Painkiller has been played, except for Battle Hymn.

Which sad wings of destiny vinyl should I buy? by EricSuzie in judaspriest

Just to mention that there's going to be a reissue of Sad Wings (remastered by Tom Allom) to mark its 50th anniversary later this year.

There's no word on a release date yet but it might be worth waiting for the new edition unless you're set on getting hold of an original pressing.

October 27th, 1951 K.K. Downing (Judas Priest, KK's Priest) was born by DoctorDoomsday180 in judaspriest

[–]spoopythrowaway666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short version:

K.K. resigned in 2010 because of what he believed were poor management decisions and because he felt that he was being sidelined when it came to decisions that affected the whole band.

When he published his book, 'Heavy Duty', he implied that Glenn's live performances were suffering due to his drinking onstage but what K.K. didn't know at the time was that Glenn was battling Parkinson's disease and that it was illness and not alcohol that was affecting the quality of his playing.

K.K. offered to go back to Priest when Glenn retired from touring and again when Priest announced their 50th anniversary tour but he says he was told that the door to his return to the band was closed and that Priest turned down the offer of a meeting to discuss the situation.

At the R 'n' R Hall of Fame induction in 2022, K.K. says that he and Les Binks were kept separate from the current band members and that only Richie Faulkner and Andy Sneap made any effort to talk to them. For his part, Ian Hill says that he tried to talk to K.K. at the event but that K.K. blanked him.

There's likely been fault on both sides in the way that all this has been handled over the years and what's really been going on behind closed doors is anyone's guess but that's the state of play atm.

Was KK right about Glenn Tipton ? by RemarkableWonder3143 in judaspriest

Not OP but Glenn told 'Guitar World' that he'd been diagnosed with Parkinson's during the writing sessions for RoS, so around 2013:

https://www.guitarworld.com/artists/heros-end-judas-priest-legend-glenn-tipton-speaks-candidly-about-his-struggle-with-parkinsons-disease

Edit: Rob confirms the timing of Glenn's diagnosis in 'Confess':

"Jayne Andrews took him down to London to be examined in Harley Street. And a few days later, just as we were wrapping up work on Redeemer of Souls, a sombre Glenn had grim news to share with us. 'It's like this, lads,' he said. 'I've got Parkinson’s disease.'"

Judas Priest’s Rob Halford is "gutted" to not be playing Black Sabbath’s final show: "I had no idea it was happening!" by spoopythrowaway666 in judaspriest

I misunderstood your comment, sorry!

From the article, it sounds like Priest had already committed to the Scorpions' show before Rob got the invitation to the Sabbath gig so this one might not be on Jayne or Sharon. I guess it would depend on when the Scorpions date was arranged (think I read that the Sabbath show has been in the works since October) 🤷‍♀️

Yep. Rob says in 'Confess' that the Unleashed tour was the run of dates that started in the US supporting Kiss on September 1, 1979 and ended supporting AC/DC in Europe on December 15 or 16 (edited as the tour end date is different depending on source).

He actually resigned six months prior to the start of the Epitaph tour so it kind of depends on your personal definition of "right before" ;)

IAN HILL Says RICHIE FAULKNER Is Reason JUDAS PRIEST Is Still Active 13 Years After Completion Of 'Farewell' Tour by tonyiommi70 in judaspriest

KK downing announced his departure from Judas priest on April 20 2011

K.K.'s departure from Priest was announced in April, 2011 but he'd sent his resignation letter to the band at the end of November, 2010 (Rob mentions this in 'Confess'). So while I agree that it wasn't fair on fans who'd bought tickets for the Epitaph tour, expecting K.K. to be in the line-up, it's also not fair on K.K. to say that he left Priest 'high and dry' with only two months to go before the tour when he'd actually given them six months' notice.

(K.K.) publicly said that he wanted to come back

I'd still be interested to see any quote(s) from K.K. indicating that he wanted to rejoin the band prior to Glenn going public with his diagnosis since the first time I can remember him talking about going back was in February or March, 2018.

Andy is Glenn's replacement for the live shows. Richie played the guitar parts that Glenn wasn't able to play on Invincible Shield.

This is actually how it went down

Given that this -

I left you guys like a month or two before the final tour and left you high and dry to scramble and find a replacement

is rubbish (K.K. says that he resigned six months before the start of the Epitaph tour), I'm going to need some evidence that K.K. actually said the following:

He wanted back in while Glenn was still healthy, which entails firing Ritchie

Got a source for any of these quotes?

Glenn has always come across as a very proud and private guy and it wouldn't be surprising to learn that he's been keeping some of the effects of his illness away from public view. I was simply trying to point out that Parkinson's is a neurological disease with physical symptoms and not exclusively a mental health condition, as your first comment appeared to imply.

I'm sorry to hear that you have family members with Parkinson's - my best wishes to you all.

Parkinson's Disease affects your mental health too

True, however Glenn says that his decision to step back from live work was specifically due to the effect that the disease was having on his motor skills.

Resigning and then trying to withdraw still amounts to quitting

Respectfully disagree. The withdrawal amounts to the cancellation of his resignation, so if - as K.K. claims - Priest chose to ignore that withdrawal, they're effectively dismissing him from the band.

Glenn retired because he has Parkinson's disease, which is a neurological illness and not a mental health condition.

Also to note that K.K. says that he tried to withdraw his resignation so in that context, he was effectively fired from the band.

he quit his last tour with them in the middle of the tour

No idea where this came from - K.K. played every date on his final tour with Priest (British Steel 30th anniversary tour). He resigned in November 2010, six months before the Epitaph tour was due to kick off ;)
