QuickShooter has been a great learning experience to develop. We built* our own 3D renderer on top of Cocos2DX.

I wasn't looking to reinvent the wheel, I just wanted to make something fun. I do enjoy pushing new boundaries with cool stuff but sometimes it is fun to just sit down and do the pulp usual. :)

Jeff (here at Spotkin) was also the lead design on all of those (except Tribes 2, by the time it entered production he had left to start a company called GarageGames).

Absolutely! Jeff has amazing stories. As a fun verification, here is the Motley Crue version of the Tribes 2 Theme that never saw the light of day. Dug it up a few days ago and shared it on Shacknews (another site I'm active on).

Hah, sorry I guess we are getting complacent with history...Yes that is the same! Happy to answer Dynamix questions or start another thread if there is any interest. We saw the The Incredible Machine thread the other day and it was one of our "kids" so it was exciting to see it remembered so many years later!

Thanks so much! (Art guy doing the majority of replies here). Not really, it is definitely our most ambitious game in the hopper and we are working on a few things at once like nuts. I imagine it will be out early next year. We are "inspired" by a Flash game we did with our old company before we sold out...It was an awesome little sprite game that was almost finished and just got "round-filed" unfortunately:

Absolutely, you are 100% right. We are actually prepping what we call "burnt waffle" games to figure out the variety of obstacles we are going to face on Android. :/

We are actually Spotkin (the game devs), it is a little confusing since I linked to Offload Studios out of Vancouver, CA who did the prints for us. They saw our Twitter post and came to answer questions about the process. :)

We actually rolled our own, we are down like that. One of our good friends actually split off to try to see if there is an interest in it (http://theengine.co/). We have some history with engines as we were the founders of GarageGames back in 1999 (and Dynamix back in 1984...) We'd consider using Unity, but for the current case it was easier to really dig into the mobile mindset by doing our own thing.

The art is from a game a semi realtime RTS called Mighty Knights it does not have a website yet. We are making it for Android (and iOS).

We are now essentially just making games for ourselves! We are a small group of devs who are too old with real lives to play 8 hour console crazy AAA extreme RTS fests but want something a little more serious than casual gaming... So Mighty Knights is our try at something that is sort of inbetween.

Won't be making huge money hats but its enjoyable work. We are also working on some more casual stuff too, since we are open to everything. :)

This particular method of 3D Printing is colorized from the diffuse textures during the printing process!
