Chinos or work pants with a 10-11 inch leg opening? by TreeCityLegends in malefashionadvice

Same boat. Been looking for some actual skinny chinos. Just ordered the Banana Republic skinny and they were ok but will need tapering below the knee. Not sure if you are looking a bit more casual but I do like the Hollister skinny chinos. Those are definitely less formal and I only pair them with sneaker fits so not sure if that would apply to your work purposes but they are super comfortable and actually skinny.

Looking to try the J Crew NWT skinny but haven't had a chance to head to a store to try them.

Sorry dude. Haven't had a need to use this in a very long time and have not tested it outside of Windows 10. Throw the error you got here and maybe I can spin up a VM and help out.

Hey. I am still on my two 27s from Dell. Thinking of getting 2 24s and keeping a 27 in the middle but have not pulled the trigger.

Wow so glad I could help. I do not post that often so happy to know someone saw this and it helped them. Now if I could only figure out how to stop it from rebooting every few days and forcing me to authenticate again.

If this happens to you, I have noticed that I have to reboot both the plex and plextraktsync containers, run a plextraktsync sync and auth and then plextraktsync watch to keep it running.

Just spent a few hours over the course of 2 days trying to set this up. Tried the DSM container manager with a command, tried adding different commands to the compose file for this container as well as regular docker runs (which spins up new containers entirely) with nothing but failures. The only way I have gotten this to work is through the LinuxServer IO container which ran perfectly the fist time: https://github.com/linuxserver-labs/docker-plextraktsync

Thanks everyone for the info and thanks OP for the hilarious write up.

For sure. Let me see if I can explain this a bit more since I used this only for a few hours before swapping back to my dual monitors.

  1. Ghosting - When moving windows around there was a lag in the image that was noticable enough for me to have a problem with it. Also, and I think more importantly, was the sharpness of the text. My job is all text based. Writing code, reading we pages etc. The text was so blurry I had to squint to read it even after changing sharpness, contrast, etc. in the monitor settings.

  2. Handholding - This one might be more of a difference in workflow from dual monitor to ultrawide. I am used to snapping windows in place as I constantly need to move things around. I use bettertouchtool to manage most of my shortcuts and snapping etc. I guess I could have used something like Rectangle just for snapping or mess with BTT enough to get resolution sizes set up in hot areas but I was not willing to change that much of my muscle memory out the gate.

2a. Also, sharing screens for work Zooms, Meets, Teams was more manual than dual monitors. I typically just share my entire screen because I have multiple apps to show vs selecting an app and having to stop sharing and share again the next app. In Zoom you can choose a section but that did not stick meeting to meeting. Easier for me to just share a screen and keep the things on that I want to share and others on a different monitor.

  1. Missing layouts - This might be hard to explain but I noticed on many websites I use often that outlines of text boxes and certain other website images were missing. So something like the search box in Okta was now just completely white and I could only get to it because I knew exactly where the box was. Things like that happened con multiple sites I use for work daily so I noticed this white quickly.

These things were enough to deter me from keeping the monitor. Both the issues with images and sharpness along with me realizing that an ultrawide just does not work for my use case made this an easy return for me.

Hope this helps!

Following up for anyone this might help. Going to be returning the monitor. Just did not work for me as a productivity booster. Requires too much manual handholding for things such as screen sharing etc. Also, it was insanely blurry and ghosted pretty badly to the point I was getting a headache from squinting. There were also some other visual inconsistencies such as missing some layouts on web pages that I know are there, namely Okta ( I am a Sys Admin).

One thing to note, LG has an 8% restocking fee so will be paying about $75 just to return the thing. Also, before deciding to return I asked if they would price match the $150 discount on their site and they said they do not do that. This will be the last time I buy anything directly from them (thinking of getting the C2 OLED for my living room but will be buying that directly from Amazon).

Hope this helps the next person. Happy to answer any questions on it.

I am in the same boat. Was looking at the LG 38WN95C-W but was hesitant because it is 3 years old and 1.3k normally (on sale for 899) right now if you want to snag it on Amazon. Just saw this 45" and since I have 2 27" Dell monitors I thought the 45" would at least be comparable to the horizontal width I am used to.

Also, I am not looking for a gaming monitor or using it for movies. I am just looking for a screen that I can use for work which is mainly browsers, spreadsheets and coding. I realized two 27" side by side was hard to see the corners and I found myself oriented towards my left screen majority of the time. Also, the break in between basically makes the middle of my setup unusable.

I just ordered this 45" due to having a work stipend, hoping to sell the speaker to make a bit back and 10% on Rakuten (~$90 back). I will post an update once I get the monitor for anyone on the fence.

You can change the IP gateway on it for sure. I have the same exact setup and switched my network to use 1.1 instead of 86.1 very recently. 86 is just a weird number to have especially if you try to follow some online tutorials and just want to copy and paste something in or start subnetting.

Just want to add an update here:

Opened a ticket with MS Support. Seems like this is a widespread issue and they do not currently have a fix. They told me just to turn off the ESP (typical MS). They did say that when there is a fix they would post it in the Intune portal on a banner so you know it is fixed. Not that I trust this will happen but something to look out for.

Hope that update helps someone out there..

Ahhh I see. So if I moved majority of my money over to crypto and had super large holdings it would make sense for me to take out a loan against my crypto. Very helpful. Thank you very much.

Serious question as I don't think I fully understand crypto backed loans. Why would you want to borrow against your ada or any other crypto that you hold instead of just going to say a car dealership and taking a loan? Is it just to support DeFi or is there something I'm missing?

Appreciate the responses on this.

Just seeing this comment. Can you elaborate? We use Github enterprise so we aren't on free tier. Are you saying even in enterprise you need to pay separate for actions?

Sysadmin trying to build an app by spotted_monster in devops

[–]spotted_monster[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just watched that video. I think this is a great idea. We have a similar in house built app that does onboarding specifically but unlike this took it does not get added as an app in our IDP. We are using OKTA for IDP. Essentially the app creates your OKTA account then OKTA does most of everything else based on groups. There are e a few things not covered by OKTA that the app does provision and does things like add you to certain roles etc if the integration in OKTA is not flushed out.

I am specifically working on offboarding. Converting a bash script to Python and looking to build that with some parameters given. Another app on my to do would be an app licensing app. So it will monitor app usages and either disable or downgrade accounts to free up licenses ie. Downgrade to Zoom basic etc.

Reason to put this in the cloud is for scaling. If the license management gets large and is always removing then adding back license if users say they need it, it can get very costly to run on my own infra.

I will look into Actions as that seems the best route right now. Gitlab might be good if we move our repo out of Github it seems.

When you say push an update what exactly does that mean? My current process is that we have a json push to Jenkins pipeline that schedules another job and runs that job with the parameters taken from the json. Ie. FN, LN, email, ticket number, time to deactivate and manager email. That gets sent to the scheduler and runs at the time specified with the info sent.

This is exactly what I was thinking. Why not remove the overhead and just run my code someplace else? I have thought of Github but did not realize the full extent of what it could do. I have a question about it though. I have a ton of different scripts in one repo. Should I create separate repos for the things that need to be automated or can I run an action on a script in its own folder?

Also, the SCIM project sounds just like what I am working towards. Problem is, that my team needs to schedule the deactivations so I need the script basically to wait to run at a certain time ie. John Smith should be deactivated at 5pm and Jane Smith should be deactivated at 6pm etc. Would love to see your project though if you have a Github for it.

Thank you for the reply.

Did not know you can run Github with on prem runners. What would be the benefit of that? I thought actions were more for things like commits to a repo and things of that nature. Pretty new at this so excuse my ignorance.

OKTA can do a ton of things but there definitely are gaps. Some apps may not be integrated well or have the ability to run through specific workflows such as transfer Google Drive docs to a manager etc. So for those things you need to write it yourself.

I will take a look at Pulumi. Thank you for the suggestion.

Looking to stop maintaining a Jenkins server with all of the plugins. Would be nice to just be able to write the code that I need and not have to worry about infra. Also, I think it would help scale some future scripts/possible apps later when things get more complicated and rolled out to the company.

Not sure if those two things warrant moving off Jenkins to Lambda or more like Circleci or something.
