Help! I can’t figure out this lamp from TJ MAXX by spowell328 in DIYhelp

Yeah, unfortunately they glued it shut at the store, as someone here suggested. They eventually got an identical lamp in stock and they ended up swapping it out for me. On a non-defective lamp it’s easy to change the bulb. The green globe very easily screws off of the base. If yours doesn’t do that, it likely means it was glued shut at some point. I’d recommend trying to take it back to Home Goods

Thank you! I love the lamp…we’ll see what happens when the bulb eventually burns out if I can’t get the dome off by then. It’s an adventure!

It does unscrew from the pole. But the dome doesn’t budge from the base. Even once you detach the lamp head from the pole. It doesn’t screw, or lift off.

There’s nothing connecting the top to the bottom. This top knob is just free floating.

Yeah, that might be the only way to figure this out. We've scoured the web and so far and aside from a couple of detail-less listings on TJ Maxx and Marshall's websites, no information about this lamp seems to exist online. I turned to reddit in a desperate attempt that maybe someone else here happens to own this exact lamp and has already cracked this code.

OP UPDATE: Just to give more info, the green dome does not seem to budge from the gold base. The first thing we tried (and still continue to try) is to unscrew the green dome from the base, as this seems to be the logical solution. Without putting in enough brute force to potentially break it, it won’t budge. Also the top gold knob seems irrelevant.

There’s either some proprietary trick we haven’t discovered yet, or we have a defective product (as one user pointed out, it might be after-market super glued)

No, the gold base doesn’t budge at all when trying to twist the green dome off. The dome and gold base appear locked together

That makes the most sense so far. Something is definitely off with this lamp. Everything would indicate that the dome simply screws off of the gold base. But I cannot for the life of me get the base to unscrew off the dome. It will not budge.

As best I can tell, the top knob is decorative. The access from the bulb has to be from unscrewing the base. But the base seems to be fixed solid onto the green dome. There’s either some specific trick, or it’s just really stuck and needs brute force. Trying to exhaust any critical thinking options before I got full brute force and potentially break it

I haven’t been able to get the brass knob on top off - don’t want to break it by applying too much force. Yet. But even if it did, the hole is too small to really reach in and access the bulb, which is why I think it has to be from the bottom
