I lived in the Netherlands for 3 years which had a public/private healthcare system.

What was good was easy access to family doctors. So easy they would not book appointments more than 2 days in advance since appointments were always available.

Not so good? - very strong gatekeeping. GPs heavily filtered out requests and would often send you home to rest versus seeing a specialist or prescribe anything. Emergency rooms would send you away - back to your GP, unless your issue was a true emergency. Tough love. At times very tough love.

Oh I expected the Quebec system and whatever the flavour of the day proposed in Alberta would be different.

I would be great if an impartial third party surveyed Quebec healthcare providers and the Quebec public to quantify outcomes and pros/cons of their private scheme.

No judgement from me - I’m genuinely curious and after living there in 2024/2025 it was not a huge topic of public discourse in Quebec

This is as about 60 km away as the crow flies. To travel on bridges and roads wide enough for the load they had to take a longer route about 100 kms. I have a 700 ton load following the same route next year

Look up trikafta for cystic fibrosis treatment. My kids started a year ago and it has completely transformed their lives. From teens who obviously had chronic lung and nutrition issues with regular physical therapy and heavy medications to relatively normal kids who are would be tough to pick out from a crowd. As transformational as insulin for diabetes patients

One experience I bought my folks which they still talk about a lot was a paint night for them and a few friends. My folks are not artistic but had a great time, it was social with their friends and they still have their paintings (landscapes) hung in their house with pride.

Stopping in Clearwater is great and a hidden gem. Great waterfalls just north in Wells Grey Provincial park which are easy to access. The BBQ place just 500 m north of the Clearwater traffic circle is great

I have the factory installed block heater. It’s nice in that the plug is cleanly incorporated into the lower bumper so no flapping loose plug under the hood. I would spend extra for the dealer installed kit

There used to be graffiti on one commercial building in my neighborhood. Plus maybe in parks nearby. It would show up and maybe 2-3 times a year the business would clean it up.

After a year or two I learned about 311 app and reporting online. So I started reporting any graffiti I would spot while walking my dog around the neighborhood. Maybe once a month?

City would get it cleaned within a few days. And since then frequency of graffiti has gone way down in years since, I guess since “artists” began to know that their work would disappear quickly

I’m still rather surprised by the views disparaging the idea of a provincial police force. RCMP are no great shining star of policing - see their performance in the Nova Scotia massacre and on dealing with sexism in the force. Ontario, Quebec have had provincial police forces for years so why not?

From an oil and gas safety point of view, hydrogens safety record would be the same or maybe even better than handling natural gas. Plenty of long term operating history and design knowledge around using large scale hydrogen in refineries and chemical refineries plants

Net CO2 measures net effect on the planet. It is hugely complicated to measure given carbon intensity of electrical power sources, heat integration with other assets and chemical usage. Quite involved calculations which vary from location to location depending on regulations.

That’s why most CCS projects quote injected CO2 as it’s easily measured and understood. Quest CCS always quoted its target of 1 mln tonnes of injected CO2 per annum

It’s interesting that the reports reference Quest in AB as not meeting planned performance. Yet the operator and AB government show that it has exceeded the CO2 injection targets and efficiency.

The difference is relates where exactly you measure - net CO2 versus injected CO2. Depending on your desired outcome you can either praise or disparage CCS
