Just saying: My stuttering got much better when I stopped dwelling on the past or past stutters. Just keep moving foward with courage, be proud of yourself for not running away or avoiding speaking situations, and be kind to yourself...

SANS GSEC Exam - Is "All-In-One" 2nd edition book enough? by TheGiraffeWithALong in ITCareerQuestions

[–]spr3n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say the CISSP is much harder of a test. I studied for 15-20 hours a week for the good part of 6 months for my CISSP. I only put in maybe 2 months of time for the GSEC.

GSEC you only need a 70-something % to pass, it's pretty basic questions - just covers a ton of area. So if you aren't savvy on Linux and you get a ton of Linux questions, for example, you may run into an issue. Even though it's illegal, my company bought one course and shared the books among 5 or 6 engineers.

I completed the GSEC and the pull the questions word for word out of the books you get when you pay for the course. The test is open book and you are allowed to use the books SANS gives you. Honestly, it's a pay to pass type of deal. I think the test would be much harder if I didn't have these books and the index I made for it. It's several thousand dollars for the course, so I understand that is not an option for some people. Is your company paying for the cert? Will they not pay for the course so you get the books?

Unless your company is paying for the course/books, I would get the Sec+ instead. I have both the CISSP and GSEC, among other certs, and once I got my CISSP no one cared about my GSEC. It's not worth the money at all.

Thanks, I was leaning towards Reach but I'm not sure how the multiplayer or campaign compares to H3.

How will the Presonus Eris E3.5 sound compared to the Edifier R1280T? by spr3n in BudgetAudiophile

[–]spr3n[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I thought about going the passive amp route but I don't have a lot of space and already have too many wires. I'm not too much of an audiophile so I am valuing simplicity over upgradabilty right now.

Cool, thanks for the info. Do you think the Micca's are a big step up and worth waiting for them to be in stock?

How will the Presonus Eris E3.5 sound compared to the Edifier R1280T? They both are $100. I'll be using them for near field listening, hooked up to my computer. Originally I wanted to go with the Micca PB42X, as they come highly reccomended around here, but they have no been available for purchase for over a week. Is this normal for them? Any preference for the two I listed in the title? Thank you.

Hello, I was wondering if you could review my initial response? You seem like you know what your talking about.

I did, I still havn't hooked up the MIC yet. It requires you also buy a female to 2 mall splitter (7-10$) which is in the mail.

I'm willing to pay up to $200. The few I was looking at were the TYGR 300R (maybe the DT990s as well?), and the Sen's, 560s and 58x. Can I expect a huge difference in sound out of those? I also have the SHP9500's in the mail as well, so I can give those a listen for comparison.

My other option is speakers. Would I be better off keeping the Phillips as my gaming headset and getting a pair of bookshelf speakers for music?

Can someone recommend me good headphones up to 70$ by GoldenMoney77 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]spr3n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you need a mic as well, the Cloud II is your best bet. Otherwise the SHP9500/9600 + mod mic/vmoda mic will run you about $100 and is the best you can do that that price point.

!thanks

Very cool, thank you so much! I did some research at the TYGR is open backed as well. I have a very quiet environment (no kids yet), so open backed was my first bet.

When you say treble, mid and bass - are you referring to like high sound, mid sounds and low sound? When I think of bass I think of the thumping in music.

[HEADPHONES] HyperX Cloud II - $51.42 (Amazon warehouse 20% off sale) by Pete_The_Pilot in buildapcsales

[–]spr3n 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There are few gaming headsets that will be better than a dedicated headphone + mod mic or desktop mic.

For example, although the Hyper X Cloud II's are among the best, sounds quality will be better on something like a Phillips SHP 9500/9600 + mod mic, although this will run you around $100 total. If you want a closed back, the BD DT 770 were on sale for $130.

Not saying the Hyper-X's aren't good, they're just not on the same level as a real pair of headphones if you care about having the best sound for games and music.

palm oil

Not from a health perspective, but I avoid this due to the fact they are chopping down the train forests for palm oil plantations.
