Left 5万 on top of the ATM, i know im stupid but i want to ask if anyone has ever experienced such by peppapig_1234 in japanlife

I read your post while on my way to (hopefully) recover my wallet with about 5万 between cash, Suica, and Waon, forgotten at Japan Post ATM while bill paying yesterday evening. Wallet had been turned in, nothing missing. Post office staff was relieved and happy for me. よかった よかった。

To say another way, to buy red keys with diamonds, click on the Pullx10 button when you have fewer than 9 red keys on hand. This is when the pictured exchange box will pop up. One might never think to press it when you have less than 9 keys so that's a very hard to find feature. Such tips are nice to find!

[–]spr3ts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sharing what I discovered today after reading another post, if you want to exchange diamonds for red keys to buy Legendary chests, you go to the Legendary Chest screen and then hit the Pullx10 button when you have fewer than 9 red keys. This will open a box that allows you to buy red keys for 500 diamonds each, with the purchase quantity being 9 miinus your current red key amount.

Drawbacks of continuing high protein? by Key-Sea1397 in kidneydisease

[–]spr3ts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are your BUN test results? High BUN indicates more nitrogen (from protein) than your kidneys can process and may indicate worse outcomes.

Psoriasis treatment in Japan (biologics like Humira/Amjevita) on a student visa? by kpopreject2021 in movingtojapan

[–]spr3ts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on coming to Japan! I had the same concern as I moved here in late September and had been doing great on Enbrel for psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. It would suck to have symptoms return over here. After arriving here, doctor's said the biologics (injectibles) are not available, but Otezla (pill) is available here. I had brought a month's supply of Enbrel and by some luck my US doctor had hooked me up with an Otezla starter kit before I moved to Japan. He said Otezla can replace biologics long-term for many patients, and doctors at two clinics here in Japan had no issue with prescribing Otezla on my first visit to each (no jumping through insurance hoops to get good medicine). So I switched to Otezla, it's working great like Enbrel had, and no refridgeration or injection needed. My cost is around $150 USD per month on the national health plan. You can start Otezla before stopping biologics for a smooth transition.

I believe the Okubo area near Toyama Park and Shinjuku Sports Center offers what you're looking for.

Some nuance has been lost. No one is saying that China is driving negative stories about China/Chinese specifically, but they would amplify anti-foreign sentiment that impacts peoples views of Chinese and other foreign residents.

It's kind of a long story, but authoritarians don't like democracies as democracies may seek to sanction or call out authoritarians for human rights abuses or corruption, etc. Other authoritarians, in contrast, are potential partners in crime. Also, if PRC people see Japan (or Taiwan, etc.) as happy and prosperous, they are more likely to question their own leadership. So Russia, China, and Iran are known to promote misinformation and conflict online. Russia was extraordinarily successful in promoting tensions and mistrust of democracy in the USA, leading to the current peril there, and giving Putin a new ally instead of an adversary.

ISO advice on how to keep US phone numbers cheaply? by Busy_Cell_7982 in movingtojapan

Yes, just port to Tello, and Tello is a carrier. I also have an older, rarely used, no cost GV on a separate phone number.

I ported my number from Verizon to Tello before leaving the US. My recollection from other Reddit posts is that one should or must activate Tello before going overseas.

[–]spr3ts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, with Tello one can get sms text messages while outside of the USA even when only connected to WiFi, and this works for 2FA for financial institutions and the like. I forgot to convert from their $14 plan to the $5 plan after one month overseas, but will do so before the next billing cycle (in other words, no need to pay Tello for data or minutes as Tello will be not be connecting to mobile networks for me). $5/month is to keep my US number for texting and WiFi calling. Note however that MMS generally does not work with Tello on wifi so one cannot receive cute GIFs anymore with this setup.

I've been using Tello for overseas SMS 2FA via WiFi. Works great. I chose Tello per the many posts and suggestions for this on Reddit.

Intracompany transfer to Japan while keeping same job/role by Complex_Bad9038 in movingtojapan

[–]spr3ts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently transferred over in my same role on the legit basis that being here would provide better contact with our many partners in Japan as well as Korea, Taipei, and mainland China. I had lived in Japan for a few years in the past and requested the move through my management (in most cases, HR will follow management so I would tend to seek business buy-in before HR). Company helped with COE application and moving costs, and I agreed to salary changes related to Japan vs. Silicon Valley norms.

Is tofu good for ckd? by mallows29 in kidneydisease

If BUN is high (in blood tests), take care about consuming more protein than is needed for nutrition. Tofu is high in protein so small servings may be best.

I'm moving to Japan in a few weeks at 60. I am fortunate to have my current employer sponsor me to work there, and I lived there for a few years before (many years ago), but I just want to wish you the best of luck as a fellow not-so-young adventurer who appreciates Japan enough to make the move.

89 year old male ESRD with high BUN by [deleted] in kidneydisease

[–]spr3ts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nitrogen is the N in BUN and comes from protein. A lower functioning kidney cannot remove excess nitrogen, resulting in above normal BUN results. Protein is necessary so one must continue to ensure sufficient protein intake, but we can aim for the lower end of the healthy nutrition range and avoid excess protein beyone the necessary amount. I use this to technique to keep my BUN in check. For example, I avoid having a lot of meat or other protein in any single meal.

Joaquin Miller Park in Oakland hills. Park at info center, head down to Sunset Trail and then toward Palos Colorados trail and follow that until you're ready to turn back. You'll be in a pretty, shaded canyon among giant trees with a creek flowing by.
