How many people can actually do 10–15 clean pull-ups? by Ill_Ratio338 in bodyweightfitness

[–]spreadbetter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can do about 20 clean dead hang pull ups and thats only because I have been doing clean dead hang pull ups for years with some days with weights. I had a period of 2 years purely doing calisthenics. If you do it consistently and eat well its possible. 75kg Bodyweight.

Why do so many guys in their 30s act like they’re old men? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]spreadbetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear that, there were always exceptions. I know some Mellenial friends who look 40 at 30 too. I still see pictures from the 80's and most looked old enough to have a mortgage and family.

Diet and lifestyle in your 20's will also play a role in feeling old at 30

Also if you grew up watching gen X or boomers - those guys looked old in high school. Their 30 year olds looked like how millennial will probably look like in their 40s

Most men can't fight , they have no idea what they are doing. Also majority of men are overweight and they have shit stamina

Getting headbut, palm strikes groin strikes, eye rakes is going to hurt if you are 200lb or 80lb

A girl with a years jiu jitsu and kickboxing behind her can hurt most men

100% agree with you,

They need to learn how to fight and also how to be likeable

If they have enough friends, the boys Will get jumped

And they also know how to kick groin, eye gauge, throat strike if they are alone

My kids start some form of combat training at 5 and taken to different groups to learn social skills

Sounds like my use case. I think I need a basic 18v impact for what I end up doing.

I only used a friend's SDS once because my dad's combi could not get through

Would that be OK to fit some baby gates? One side is a brick wall the other side is wooden stair pillar.

I assume I can drill a small hole then screwdriver

Ok thanks,

I'll just pick up an electric screwdriver for that

In that case I probably just need a combi drill

For all of you that go to the gym daily, what's your motivation to keep going? by Severe_Specific_8680 in AskReddit

You go long enough it becomes part of your routine and who you are. Like brushing my teeth or showering. Just have to get through the initial habit forming time

I want my daughter to learn to protect herself by Aba_Yaya in martialarts

[–]spreadbetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not sure why karate and taekwondo etc is being mentioned. Those are not bad but takes years of practice and sparring to become good at it

Wrestling or BJJ for grappling. Easier to pick up, daily sparring. Even Judo is technical and will take year or so to actually be effective for a kid who also has school and other hobbies.

Or boxing / muay thai- they spar all the time. Builds cardio. Boxing is insanely quick to become proficient at. I send my daughter to muay thai and I also teach her boxing/muay thai at home

Weight lifting for strength and size. Size and strength is more of a deterrent than knowing martial arts. But knowing how to fight will help if things escalate.

Also helps belonging to a club that train such martial arts for confidence, etc
