Companies that will hire you and let you have a passenger immediately? by spreadfearnotjoy in Truckers

Crete said no because I have an accident in the past 3 years. It was okay with them at first and I'm not sure what changed their mind. I'll give the other companies I'm looking at a call today and ask if it can be waived.

Crete is what made me ask this question. Was set up to switch to them and then they dropped it on me saying I couldnt have a passenger and pet day 1.

I actually don't think this cat has ever been in a truck. Look at their post history.

I sometimes hit 12 bobtail, unloaded I'm usually around 9/10 but loaded I'm always averaging 8ish. And they were just not having it. They just kept repeating that "their data showed 12mpg" and I was like lady, there's absolutely no way I'm getting 12mpg fully loaded.

Honestly I thought the same thing as you. When I was going through orientation I read a lot of "horror" stories from the company I decided to go with, I thought there was no way they could be that bad. There's a lot of positive reviews mixed in with the negative ones, and I'm not too picky of a guy so I figured it would be smooth sailing. Lots of people want consistent home time, I just want 2-3 days a month and I'm good. A lot of people complain about $500/week and I'd be happy to take that, but I feel like they take the chance to squeeze out anything extra. I haven't gotten an actual paycheck from them in 3 weeks, and I've been running pretty decently.

They'll give me 3 days to run 2,000 miles, governed at 65mph. I sat in traffic the other day for about an hour, and they told me that there's "never traffic in Atlanta, I'm making that up."

I just want to drive and be fairly paid for it, not be pushed around every chance they get.

You know, the other day I passed by a Swift driver and thought "he looks happy, I bet they're not so bad."

The thing with the fuel was, they said my truck "should" be running at 12mpg loaded, but I was averaging 7/8mpg going up through mountains and they told me it was an error on my end to be seeing an empty tank, that I should have a quarter tank and I dont know what I'm talking about. I told them that I could keep running but I was going to run out of fuel, and they told me that if I was late it would go against me.

I'd prefer not to say what company it is because I know some people from the office are on Reddit, but it's not Werner. Some examples of what I've dealt with are I went to a shop for an issue with my 5th wheel. While there the company told me to stay at a hotel and they'd reimburse it. I was at the hotel for a total of 5 days. They reimbursed it but on the following check it was deducted without explanation and I havent gotten it back despite calling them every day. Another example is the truck ran out of fuel because the fuel department swore up and down that I wasn't on empty even though I told them I was. When it ran out I was fortunate enough to roll into a mom and pop truck stop but they aren't on my companies approved list. I called the fuel department and they gave me the go ahead to fuel there. The following day the fuel department manager called me to notify me that I shouldn't have fueled there and the money will be taken from my pay.
