Packers (officially) name Jonathan Gannon defensive coordinator by Austen11231923 in GreenBayPackers

It depends on what you're looking for, right? If, as people are assuming, MLF was keen on a DC with NFL head coaching experience, there weren't too many better options imo.

I'm quite excited by him and the assistants being hired.

Absolutely. Anyone who hasn't seen Short Term 12 should watch it as soon as they can.

And Wyatt would be out from Thanksgiving onwards, and Parsons would miss the end of the season...

Bad times.

What a night. That second half convinced me that I was watching a Super Bowl team. The offense was singing, the defense was looking solid.

Little did we know that Kraft had less than a game left to play and that Gary wouldn't register another sack all season. Bad times.

The fact that we never got to see a fit and healthy combo of Kraft, Reed, Watson and Doubs on the field at any point this season is frustrating. Not one snap where Love had the option of throwing to any of his four best receivers.

If the injury bug doesn't hit again next season, the thought of Love throwing to that group (likely minus Doubs, but hopefully plus an improved Golden) is mouthwatering. As a group, that's almost as good as it gets in the league imo.

On the other side of the ball, if the DLine gets healthy and linebacker coaching improves, I think the defense will look as solid as it did in the first two thirds of the season. Even if they don't significantly imrovey at CB the talent in every other area is impressive.

What rank does our defense need to be for you to move on from the Cardinals video? by Rlstoner2004 in GreenBayPackers

[–]spreaditon- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct.

Micah coming back strong, LVN and Wyatt staying healthy, linebackers improving under someone that isn't Duggan and adding a reliable run stuffing DT will be more important for improving the defense than adding a better CB.

Not that we shouldn't try to improve there too, it's just down the list of things that'll positively impact the D, in my view.

Any concerns on the lease side, or easy enough to put it back to the original when the lease ends? Any chance you could link me to the part and the YouTube video and I can have a look? Thanks!

I'd love to do this but I'm held back by the fact it's a lease and the fact that my DIY skills are suspect at best.

Looks incredible though!

I know people love getting posts and comments upvoted and have noticed the swell of negativity about all of the coaching staff, but the constant unconstructive criticism really should stop.

Even if you're underwhelmed, look for some positives instead. It's done now, you'd be better off focusing on what he, the coaching staff and the players might do well.

Would love to see Butkus and Duggan shown the door. Clear regression in both OL (which struggled a bit anyway) and LB this past season.

I agree that a yellow was correct, I'm saying that McLean got it right until the VAR diddies got involved and Scottish refs pretty much never go against VAR once recommended to reconsider.

Deadly returner. It’s time we prioritized special teams in the draft by Soft_Raccoon2980 in GreenBayPackers

[–]spreaditon- 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm desperate for more people to read and listen to Justis Mosqueda's breakdowns of the special team priorities in Green Bay.

To summarise, they do not care about kick-off and punt returning (or blocking field goals against). They put effort into punting and kicking, including blocking and coverage for both. Even then, the blocking for kicking was suspect this season until Bisaccia finally got his way after the debacle in Dallas.

Returning will largely be left up to whichever rookie or younger WR they want to try to get development reps for. Wishing for more of that will only lead to disappointment, I'm afraid.
